I put the car into diagnostic mode when doing things that take more than the 10 min. normal shutdown, like sitting in car listening to music waiting on wife to get out of salon. You do that by HOLDING down start button for approx. 5-7 secs, then it will chime & the screen will come up. Just be sure to shut it off after or battery will drain.

I'm not confident the car even needed to be in accessory mode to update. I noticed I updated a couple modules and the start button was not illuminated at all.
Regarding the PC question, I have a pretty new PC with Windows 10 and it worked after a bit of back and forth getting proper drivers installed.

One quick question: I assume you connected the VXDIAG VCX to a laptop. Is that correct? Also noticed the VCX only works in a 32-bit environment, which is interesting because the GM Software have system requirements for 64-bit.
What exactly did you use, computer wise...? THANKS!

GMs suggested requirements are here, but many of them are more applicable to setting up an entire GM diagnostic workshop, rather than just a programming session.... https://gsi-cs.ext.gm.com/userguides...ine%20v1.0.pdf
