If your limit is 72k, you have more than enough to get a 1LZ z06.

It will make no sense if you spend 70k+ on a GS, doesn't even matter if you get a 3LT for 72k, that is still a poor choice when for the same amount you can get a z06.

Don't make the mistake. Your budget is perfect to own a z06. Get one. And be happy.

I think you will get a biased answer if you seek for answers in only this Z06 forum. I was trying to be brave and offer you a more unbiased opinion but I know I will be outnumbered here among the most passionate Corvette Z06 owners. I have owned 5 Corvettes so far including a C5 Z06 that I modified with heads, cam, headers and tuned it myself so I am passionate as well but I am trying to give you honest feedback to help with your decision.

Only you can answer the question. Based on your budget it really comes down to what you value more, the additional power or the features of a higher trim level. The thing is they are both powerful. It is like saying one person can bench press 460lbs and the other 650lbs. Yes, 650 is a lot more but 460 is a lot as well. They will both put a smile on your face when you mash the throttle. The question you have to ask yourself is can you make use of the power where you get to drive? The other thing to factor in is total cost of ownership if it matters to you. Check with your insurance company because the Z typically carries higher premiums and if this is your daily driver and mileage is of concern then the fuel costs will be a bit higher as well. With more power you will normally wear out the $1800 in tires quicker and the brake pads will need replacing sooner as well. If your are performance minded though this may not bother you since it becomes a hobby.

I am not sure how you feel about convertibles but what if you could get a 2LT GS Convertible for less than a 1LZ Z06 Coupe? Each Corvette owner is different, which is why there are so many different ways to configure these darn things. Some want all the performance for the lowest price possible. Some like to custom order them with specific colors, two-toned seats, stripe packages, upgraded wheels, Some like me love the open air feeling of the top down and listing to the exhaust while you row through the gears. I would check out a lot of the reviews online, YouTube videos, etc. and take some test drives to see what you prefer more. Best of luck.

Yea, all the configurations are why I for the first time before buying a corvette I reached out to the forum. The options and packages on the Z06's are crazy expensive. I decided to look for a base 2019 Z06... only one base car in the area in in So. Florida. Several 2lz's and a few 2018 2lz's but all are $10-14k over the one base z06 that is $72k with a MSRP of $81k......I like mosre exclusive cars and it seems the Grand Sports are everywhere, not as many z06's. I bet here at the end of the year i can get as good as deal as I will ever get. Thanks a million for all th replys and opinions. Hope to have a base z06 ASAP!.

72k with an MSRP of 81 is a good deal. You could probably knock another 1k off if you're negotiating skills are good.

I don't see grand sports or z06's at all really. Maybe a couple of times a year but that shouldn't be a concern. This is going to be your car that you spend your hard earned money on, don't make a decision you'll regret.

Look at the many people who went from a stingray to a z06. Or from a GS to a z06.

They made the transition for a reason. POWER.

You'll want it. Trust me.

I am in south Florida as well. Some dealers will order base 1LZs for stock inventory from time to time, but usually they load them up so they can turn a bigger profit. They will list the base 1LZs with all the incentives at about $71k but normally most buyers will not qualify for all the incentives they advertise. Factory invoice on a base 1LZ with no options is right around $77,400. If you plan to buy from a dealer in south Florida you would be doing good if you could buy one for $75k (below invoice) and then you have to add the hefty dealer fees we have in Florida, figure $799 to $1000 for the dealer fee, plus TT&TL.

Another option is to order one from a local dealer, which will take 8-10 weeks assuming they have an allocation and you obviously lose some bargaining power. Invoice pricing is all I would expect if you order one from a local dealer, unless there are some incentives at some point this winter. (no real winter in Florida :-))

Lastly, if you are comfortable buying out of state you can order from one of the big national Corvette stores and pretty much get 10-14% without much effort. Some don't like buying a car they haven't seen in person, or having to ship it cross country, etc. but if you can deal with those things you can save some cash.

Sounds like you know what you want, now to you just have to pull the trigger.

By the way, you can add the garage door opener for $200 bucks by just replacing the driver sun visor. :-) That is what I am doing on my GS 1LT. It just swaps right out and you get the Homelink for your garage door.

You're on the right track.

I forgot you had a C6Z, unless this is the first time you're mentioning it?

If that's the case, going from a C6Z to a C7GS is a HUGE downgrade in terms of power, obviously. Even though C6Z stock is 505 and C7GS is 460? Seems close but still a downgrade, even though the C7 does look better.

Life is always about making upgrades. The logical thing to do is go from a C6Z to a C7Z.

It only makes sense.

The money you saved on options can go towards select performance mods. That's the reason we buy the Z06/ZR1 over the C7. You can add them yourself as you go. The base Z06 is my as well choice! Congrats!

What about a Z07 GS vs 1LZ Z06? would the price still be close? then mod the GS later and still have the CCB's and upgraded chassis? just a thought.

The Z07 package on a GS is $7995 msrp, which adds the Z07 suspension, carbon ceramics brakes, and Sport Cup 2 tires. If you went 1LT GS with this package you would be at $74,500 msrp. 2LT with Z07 package would put it at $79k msrp.

Well, if you want to see lowest price on any C7, Kerbeck in Atlantic City, NJ is the best dealer. Lowest price, no fees, and always a great intrest rate (2.69 % now) Unfortunately they dont have the car I want yet in stock.. Base Watkins Glen gray without the black wheels... guess I am to old school but just hate the black wheels....I found one base here in So. Florida at Phil Smith in FT. Lauderdale... they are advertising a $71k price but have all kinds of misleading discounts and a big dealer fee... I have been in the car business so I know all the tricks.. I will see if they really want to sell it now or wait for a sucker... rock on

You don’t want the Z07 package on a tight budget. Tires don’t last long and the brake rotors are a grand a piece.

I bought a couple cars from Phill Smith including a 2017 C7 last year when they were doing the 20% off incentives. They will deal a bit but they will not give the car away. They know there are enough people with money here in South Florida so they will wait until someone just has to have it. They also have a high dealer fee $999 plus $499 electronic fee, which translates to $1500 in pure profit. I recently shopped Z06s in our area, you won’t get the deals you see and hear about on these forums. Those only happen when you buy from the big national dealers that do huge corvette volume and can heavily discount them or when GM has big factory incentives available. If you want to buy or order new one locally figure 75k plus dealer fee and tax, tag and title. I am not sure how the tax savings on a trade works if you buy out of state but that is another thing to consider if you plan to trade your existing corvette.

Get the Z. It's making more and more sense.

My Z is a weekend car. 12k miles, 2 and half years later, everything is flawless. Brakes still good, tires were good when i swapped them out (at around 6 or 7k but i wanted continentals).

You'll make a huge mistake going with the GS lol. Don't say we didn't warn you. Post back when you get your Z!

At MacMullkin you could do better than $71K. Also is the Z for performance rights or for cruising? Have you owned other high performance cars. If so a GS may disappoint.

even if you drive your cars like grandma the z is still a better car.

it's a quiet tame cruiser when you need it, then a missile when you want it.

best of all worlds. Gs is really not a good choice at all.
