Tyler Chevrolet - Niles Michigan Dealer Vehicle Abuse

Would be curious what other sites. I know Jalopnik.

the dash upon start up prompts that audio is disabled due to valet mode. The infotainment says valet mode and has a numeric keypad asking for passcode to get out of valet mode. Nothing tells of video recording, think that is a PDR car feature only. Not sure. I’m 8 days into Vette ownership.

Your complaining on this board will accomplish exactly what?. Move on and find another dealer. Spending time on a no harm, no foul situation is not productive.

You must be talking to the OP, not me. But, the OP has a valid point. Under what circumstance is it alright for a person to take his car to a dealer for a seat belt issue and find out that some jerk takes it for a joyride at 94 mph? Alerting other forum members to the problem which is more widespread than just in Niles, Mi. is a worthwhile thing since it can help force dealers and GM to be more aware of it and take measures to curtail the problem. What the hell kind of a world do we have where people will put up with BS like this and just accept it?

There's no way I'd let them off the hook without *some* sort of compensation. I'd be heated... Any time I drop the car off for service, or valet, I make sure to inform them that the pdr IS recording any time the car is on...

Is it just me or its no big deal!!?? He didnt do nothing besides taking it for a spin! Sure i wouldnt be happy if its was my car, but trying to get something outta it seems like over the top! Once back in the day, the service manager revved the **** out of my C6 ZR1 in the car bay, i knew about from the dealer next door! I was pissed but believe he wont get nowhere near close to my Corvettes now! I would make a **** storm outta it one social network, trying to get something free outta it...NO!

Dealer knows he lost this customer. Customer cannot force the dealer to do Anything! Customer went to police no action there as they have bigger fish to fry.
Everyone demanding compensation, please explain how to get that? I love people who post if tat was me......
Folks on social media forget about these posts next day.
I assume this tech was vette certified, ie dealer has dropped $s to get him certified so doubt he’s willing to fire him.

Trust me, taking the car to 94 mph won't hurt a thing unless you hit something..

1, The tech shouldn't have taken the car for a joyride.
2, The tech didn't abuse the car. Most of us do worse everytime we start our cars.
3, For those of you clammering for free oil changes, would you really want this dealership to service your car after trashing them on social media and trying to get the tech fired and making a big deal about nothing?

10 oil changes don't help since he'll never go back. I wouldn't. And the guys saying this is no big deal is big pile of crap. Let us all know where you live so we can come over and take turns taking your vette for 10 minute spins.

yea, and considering how uptight this forum is, i'm a bit surprised by the "so what" responses in here.

Only the the general manager or owner/boss of the dealership can set the tone with the employees that if a customer or another employee observes this behavior they get immediately **** canned.
In this particular case the tech was working on something that was not a performance or driveability issue. There was no reason to take the car for a test drive.
When I had my c7z in for service I didn’t think it was performing up to snuff. I told the tech to take it out and give it hell as I thought it ran like a dog. He checked the car over and said no reason for that —- the intercooler was low and the pump was cavitating. In my case I would have been ok with it. But this guy I have known for years and he has worked on my c4zr1, my c6z and now miss piggy.

Point is that the car did not belong to the Service Tech. Anyone that thinks that it's "okay" or "no big deal" for the Service Tech or anyone but the owner to just take it and go out and get his/her jollies needs to get their values adjusted.
Bottom line: if something doesn't belong to you, leave it alone --- it is not yours to do with as you wish just because you can. Period.
Seems like a simple concept, but apparently there are people that just can't get that through their heads.
