Buying a used Z06 for ~50% MSRP
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and I am planning to buy my first corvette, a C7 Z06. Been lurking on this forum for a while and doing extensive research and I know that these cars are quite reliable and the engines are basically bulletproof. I never buy new cars due to depreciation and I think I found a steal deal and wanted to share with the forum and get some feedback and issues I need to be aware of before pulling the trigger. Any help would be appreciated.
So the car is a 2016 C7 Z06 convertible 3LZ with z07 package in gray with bright red interior, manual of course, with competition seats and visible carbon fiber outside along with carbon fiber instrument panel trim. The car is basically loaded and I expect the MSRP was above 100k. The price on the vehicle is 61500! the catch of coarse 20k miles on the odometer. One owner clean carfax full service etc.. I am not really worried much about the relatively high mileage on the car but wants to see what everyone thinks. Thanks again.

I think you could spend a little more and get a newer one with fewer miles on it. There is one for sale on here for like $75k that is practically brand new.
I just bought my 2017 with only 2,700 miles for not much more than what you are considering paying.

haha that's bad, I live in California and I'll be picking the car from LA so I guess I don't have this problem. Glad you liked it, I am super excited to drive it back home. Thanks for the reply

Well that's almost 15K more, I live in California and have to pay 6k in sales tax alone. But the main question here, what is the difference between a 20k miles car in perfect condition and a 5K car? to me nothing really, I am planning to drive the car and enjoy it. Thanks though

The Z07 option is more of a track option with the ceramic rotors and expensive to replace just so your aware of that, also the springs are stiffer.
The manual cars are harder to sell, that’s why the lower price. If you know all of this and like the car then buy it.

While 20k miles is "steep" for a corvette, if you look at the average 15k miles per year (or even the old 12k standard) for normal cars, it's still low mileage since it's 3 years old. And since it's a 2016, depending on when it was originally purchased, you're probably already out of the bumper to bumper warranty based on time anyway, but even if you're not, you only have a few months left and there's no way you're going to hit 36k before it does run out. I think if you can get exactly what you want at an absolute steal, having a few extra miles on it isn't a big deal, especially if they have maintenance records that show they got the 500 mile oil change and then every 7500 miles since.

That seems super unlikely to me. I could only get about $1500 off my stingray when I bought it new. Either way, if the original owner was **** enough, they probably still have the window sticker. Hell maybe even if they weren't ****. My 2016 Z06 hadn't had the key fobs set up for memory seats, easy exit wasn't set up, they hadn't done android auto update, lot of little things that tells me they weren't detail oriented, but they still had the window sticker.

OP this sounds like a fair deal to me 👍🏻

No, I didn't shop around. I ordered it per my specs. Only 2 Chevy dealerships in my area that sell/service Corvettes and only 1 that you could order through. Guess it was a "we got it, you want it, you pay what we say" situation.

I wouldn't worry about the Z07 package ceramic brakes. They will last 100,000 miles on the street per others here with non racing normal use. I bought my 2016 Z07 3LZ coupe auto last spring. It had 6,100 miles and I paid just under $69,000 for it in perfect condition. If you can get your hands on the sticker I suspect it had a MSRP around 112,000 for a 3LZ Z07 convertible (If you buy it get the original sticker through the Corvette museum). Mine had a MSRP of $111,450. Makes absolutely no sense to buy these cars new but who thinks buying one of these new for those with the economic means needs to make sense. If I had the means I would have two new ZR1's, one a stick and the other a auto and in addition a couple of new Porsches.

Yep dealers love that. I found exactly what I was looking for on the other side of the country on the showroom floor. Just had to pay for transportation. There is still a Z06 sitting on the floor at a local dealer because they won’t deal 😄

threatened to do that and my local dealer did 21% off msrp in August for new leftover ‘17 Z.
To OP I think this is a decent deal today ... close enough where if you like it buy it!

just to play accountant (which I’m not ha), the math on your numbers is more like ~40% off.
Yes, yes I think the MSRP would be 110k so yeah around 55%, just wanted an eye catching title for my first post here :P

As others have said, if the maintenance records are OK that is a good deal. I have not driven a Z07 version, but if you are OK with the ride, go for it. By comparison my 2016 Z06 2LZ M7 with competition seats was 70k back in June, at a non-GM dealer. The Carfax was fine, and the sticker came with the car and showed over 94k MSRP. It had only 5200 mile, still had the new car smell, and looked like it had never been driven.
