Default What are your track A8 trans fluid temps?

The key to our new development EOC/TOC package is to actually reduce the the capacity of the stock TOC cooler in order to use some of that space for the EOC. I was wondering...

How hot did you get?
Did you get a TOC fault?
Would a 20 degree increase be a major issue?

This was on a 90' day, humidity 65%. With these cars, we need all the EOC and TOC cooling we can get. I was manually shifting with rpms never exceeding 5500 rpm. As you can see it just kept getting hotter. I had to cut my session short.

Tom, not once, even in 98dF ambient conditions and running the car in the Advanced group, (yes I was having to short shift at round 5,000-5,500 rpm) did the transmission oil ever get hot. It is the only fluid in the A8 car that actually has good cooling due to the secondary transmission cooler in the nose of the car. I believe that the transmission could easily see an increase of 20dF and it not cause an issue. I’ll see if I can dig up some old data.

Bish - Question is at what temp would the transmission be deemed hot?

thanks for the feedback., I'd like to hear more results before coming to any conclusions but I don't think 200-220 at the end of a run is a problem. I might have to add a couple more rows as insurance.

Check out the product on display at this weeks Performance Racing Show

Someone here is bound to know the upper temp limit of the A8 transmission fluid. Hope they post. I’m still looking for my data chip with my Z06/7 track data.
