•Completely new platform that has no specs "confirmed" as of yet.
•No one know what kind of problems year 1 will have.
•Year 1 dealer mark-ups.
•No trunk space .

Yea.... it's so tempting I am losing sleep over it.

edit - It's also a few years out from me wanting one since the Z06 variant won't be until the 2nd year if they follow the previous trend. Even then, I'd wait another year or two so they can solve any issues with the car. By that point you can get 15-20% off msrp.

I'm very excited about the C8, Mid Engine. 2nd year, higher horse variant sounds good to me. I've owned every generation. They dont get worse. Nice to see the mid engine finally coming to fruition.

Just like GM's last mid-engined car, the Pontiac Fiero?

Same.

And what's even better, finally a PROPER AUTO.

Maybe GM was reading my posts the past 2 years or so about putting a dual clutch in the next corvette

Nope...I can't wait to see one, but the real USABLE version will possibly be north of $160,000...Not happening for this guy. I will stick with my C7Z.

180k is what I read for base model.

With GMs lack of support with the issues with the c7z, I doubt I’ll buy their top dog anymore.

I sure hope the actual C8 looks better than most of the renderings I’ve seen, however I’m not tempted by something that isn’t available. I try to live in the moment and right now I’m really enjoying my moments with my new 2019 Z06. Considering I got a healthy discount off MSRP for my ordered M7/Z07 package, I doubt I will see anything close to the deal I got on the C8 Z06-level model for at least 3-4 more years. I don’t need to be the first in line as I’d rather check out all the colors, options, etc. before moving into a new platform.

Either way, it’s an exciting time to be a Corvette fan.

Isn't it amazing how we always want something we don't have instead of enjoying what we already possess?

That can't be right.

Corvettes were always about bargain performance. 180k is not a bargain. Maybe 180k for their top tier model. No way a base model is 180. They won't sell any. And if they decide to make their base model 180, it better be a limited production.

I'm guessing 90-105k base. 140 for the "Z" version. Then 180k for the top top dog.

First bullet covers it all. The rest are all unknowns. As for 1st year problems for at least the last two decades 1st year models aren't a concern. Most 1st year problems went away with the use of Computer Aided Design and modeling tools that reduced design issues considerably by ensuring mating parts did fit together and parts were sufficiently durable.

The article that stated the estimated cost was on the front page of this forum. It also stated it’s been delayed at least 6 months. Search for it.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. I absolutely love my 2016 Z06 and will continue to enjoy it over a 5 year period before I move to a C8 that I expect to be a fantastic car.
