unless money doesnt matter id keep the Z

i could not justify selling my 15k mile '15 Z06 for (if i was lucky low 60s) to drop another $80k on essentially the same car. your buddies Z will do everything the ZR will do except at the absolute limit. keep the Z and buy another toy

I was recently confronted with a similar situation. I opted to keep my 2017 Z06 and buy a Tesla Performance Model 3. No regrets and does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds...or so they say. Plus got back over $10K in rebates. I made sure that the Tesla was close to the same color as WGG too.

Gizmo! if the Z06 is Miss Piggy, wtf do you call a Hellcat that weighs a THOUSAND pounds more?? Literally. That's not hyperbole, that's on the nose. When I saw this thread I thought to myself "Oh I know Gizmo has replied here and had something to say about the weight of the hellcat". Guess I was wrong.

I think the ZR1 is a significant upgrade to the Z06, especially the 2015 (given the upgrades/fixes they've done in the last 4 years). However, supposedly this is the last year of the C7, so my vote is to just hang on to the Z06 for another year and pick up a C8. If that's not an option, I vote ZR1 and leave that boat at the dock (referring to the hellcat)

The Redeye with that Widebody just has a super aggressive look that has stayed true to it retro roots. And 797hp off the showroom floor is impressive. One thing to note is that it’s much easier to make big power with the Redeye as it has conventional port injection and a larger 2.7L blower. With that said, I still have a soft spot for the Z06. I wish I could keep the Z06 and add a Redeye to the mix!

Not a Hellcat but I have an SRT 392 to go along with my Z06 and it's a great combo. I'm very happy.

I agree with the 392 being a hoot. Bolt on’s and 305 drag radials she hooks and does pretty dang good.
Very nice cruiser. That Charger would be a even nicer cruiser. I just wanted the lightest 392 possible so went with a bare bones Scat Pack.

I honestly can't afford either one, but if $$ was no object; I'd buy the ZR1. Lots of HellCats around my area (Detroit) and they are very FAST, but only in one direction - Go-Fast muscle car. The ZR is also very FAST and IMO a much better all around fun car. JMO.

Well the dodge would be the daily and the z for weekend if I had to guess the intention. But I think if I did that I would like the hellcat more because it's more usable which makes it more fun, then the z might be for sale.

so that's why I suggested getting rid of the z and getting a zr1. To prevent that possibility lol

"lightest challenger" is like saying "most virtuous crack *****". sure there is a superlative, but does it really matter?? She's still a crack *****, and that thing is still a whale.

Beautiful cars. I've just got to ask. Which one has the best straight line performance?

If you go by the stats the Z wins. Lighter and more rubber in the rear. If you go by seat of the pants, the Charger feels quicker. A full throttle launch just ends up in tire smoke. The P Zeros just aren't wide enough. I think that's why Dodge went to the wide body Challengers.

The hellcat is a lot of fun, and they have a ton of room in them, and nothing fries the tires like the hellcat, BUT don't let anyone tell you that a ZR1 is a Z06 with another 100 hp, because it's WAY more than that. If he gets the hellcat he will be happy, if he gets the ZR1 he will be happy, it's a no lose situation

Had my Hellcat Challenger for 2 years prior to the Z. Trust me, you would not sell the Z to keep the Cat.

The "Whale" as you call it does a pretty to job during an autocross.

I'm sure it romps all over the other school buses that participate! But seriously, I'd be very curious to see some auto x times compared to other things that are far lighter and have much wider tires (read: Z06) or even with skinnier tires, but half the weight (read: miatas)

I put 315s on 11" wheels on the back of my Charger. Nicer stance, better grip.

There was never any real weight savings between the Scat Pack and the SRT 392. Moot point now as the SRT 392 is no more....
