I have the Borla xpipe also. Also, 18” Forgestar’s will be here today. Together with Hoosier R7s, that should be another 40 lbs.
The right battery is tough. I’ve done some research, need to do more. I find it hard to believe a battery that fits in a Harley is sufficient. If so, could be up to another 30 lbs of savings.
Girodisc rear rotors are much lighter than stock. That’s another 16 lbs for reasonable cost.
Great stuff. Someone should start a weight thread. The C6 guys did a great one

just me being an ******* perhaps but I think the girodisc are the biggest rip-off ever. OEM rear rotors are like half the price and they are damn good just heavy. All the weight is in the solid steel center section, if someone would just make a factory sized center out of 6061 machined aluminum you would get all your weight savings! Then just swap out the OEM center off the rotor when you buy new ones.

i recant this statement. The girodisc replacement is less than OEM cost and a couple forum vendors run sale sale on these. I picked up a full set.

Great idea! I have a local machine shop that makes fixturing for my engineering firm. Everything he makes is 6061, has a cnc machine, mill, and a lathe.

i have these installed on my Z06 , paired with Akrapovic Full exhaust, I have no tune and not been on the dyno since i installed so cant comment on the improvement, Its been over an year and no issues so far, I haven't tracked the car. I got them ceramic coated at a reputed shop.

My Mods: LG Drop Spindles , Hookers Shorty , Ackrapovic Full System , CAI , DSC Sport controller , MGW Shifter, Difflow Rear Diffuser.

Pair these with a set of catless mids or aFe catted mids and I think it would be a strong alternative to LTs. I'm really considering this path because LTs on these cars are just to raspy for my taste.

i received them now looking into ceramic coating. But I still think heatshield is better. Do mclaren or Ferrari or any GT3 teams use this stuff? I’m just not sold on it. I had a set of jet hot coated headers in the past on a v8 Jeep and I don’t know if it did much.

Get some weights and let us know if that 19 pounds difference is correct. Seems like quite a difference.

The 19lbs difference is for the cast iron exhaust. Here's the link from Holley https://www.holley.com/products/exha.../70301306-RHKR . It says up to 19 lbs so hopefully that's accurate. The z06 cast stainless exhaust is actually heavier than the cast iron manifolds.

I can't figure out what you are trying to say. Aren't the stock Z06 manifolds cast stainless?

Sorry I should have said cast iron. Typing too fast. I changed it. I think it was Norcal-ss that posted the weight difference in the cast iron vs stainless exhausts.

I copied this from a post by Kracka
"LT1 vs. LT4 manifolds are identical in design and dimensions (including runner diameter and flow). There are only two differences to speak of:
1. Material (cast iron vs. cast stainless steel).
2. Weight. Although I knew the weights would differ, which one is lighter did surprise me! The cast iron LT1 manifold weighs 13.7 lbs while the cast stainless steel LT4 manifold weighs in at 17.8 lbs."

so these are 6.625 lbs each so isn’t that 22.35 lbs less on an lt4 and 14.15 less for the

Yep. Not sure where they got 19lbs. 22lbs is a good weight savings as long as you don't lose any durability. Not sure how much ceramic coating would change the weight but it wouldn't be much.

I have used wrap in the past and that stuff works. You can put your hand right on the header without instant burn. After shutdown you can leave your hand. I think these paired with a set of catted aFe pipes and your looking at great weight savings, increased power and at a savings over LTs.

I'd be interested in a set of lightweight hats.

Did you get yours installed? I just finished installing mine. Did not removed the passenger valve cover or spark plug wires. Plenty of places to lay the wires out of the way. Installed the rear passenger side spark plug before the headers. Made it much easier to get it in. You are right on with the weight savings.
