Lightweight C7 hooker shorty headers?

I have the Borla xpipe also. Also, 18” Forgestar’s will be here today. Together with Hoosier R7s, that should be another 40 lbs.
The right battery is tough. I’ve done some research, need to do more. I find it hard to believe a battery that fits in a Harley is sufficient. If so, could be up to another 30 lbs of savings.
Girodisc rear rotors are much lighter than stock. That’s another 16 lbs for reasonable cost.
Great stuff. Someone should start a weight thread. The C6 guys did a great one

i recant this statement. The girodisc replacement is less than OEM cost and a couple forum vendors run sale sale on these. I picked up a full set.

Great idea! I have a local machine shop that makes fixturing for my engineering firm. Everything he makes is 6061, has a cnc machine, mill, and a lathe.

I’m curious as to what your thoughts are on these. I’m interested in dropping some weight off the front of the car, call it a handling exercise more than anything. My concern is that they will not hold up to the exhaust temps on a z06 on track, what do you guys think? 19lbs less than OEM cast stainless. Don’t want long tube headers so that’s not an option.

Pair these with a set of catless mids or aFe catted mids and I think it would be a strong alternative to LTs. I'm really considering this path because LTs on these cars are just to raspy for my taste.

i received them now looking into ceramic coating. But I still think heatshield is better. Do mclaren or Ferrari or any GT3 teams use this stuff? I’m just not sold on it. I had a set of jet hot coated headers in the past on a v8 Jeep and I don’t know if it did much.

The 19lbs difference is for the cast exhaust. Here's the link from Holley https://www.holley.com/products/exha.../70301306-RHKR . It says up to 19 lbs so hopefully that's accurate. The z06 stainless exhaust is actually heavier than the cast manifolds.

I copied this from a post by Kracka
"LT1 vs. LT4 manifolds are identical in design and dimensions (including runner diameter and flow). There are only two differences to speak of:
1. Material (cast iron vs. cast stainless steel).
2. Weight. Although I knew the weights would differ, which one is lighter did surprise me! The cast iron LT1 manifold weighs 13.7 lbs while the cast stainless steel LT4 manifold weighs in at 17.8 lbs."

Yep. Not sure where they got 19lbs. 22lbs is a good weight savings as long as you don't lose any durability. Not sure how much ceramic coating would change the weight but it wouldn't be much.

I have used wrap in the past and that stuff works. You can put your hand right on the header without instant burn. After shutdown you can leave your hand. I think these paired with a set of catted aFe pipes and your looking at great weight savings, increased power and at a savings over LTs.
