For me, "hillbilly" and "redneck" can be expressions of fondness. Why would you assume that they must be pejorative? Now go back to starching your underpants.
Just ignore MMD. He's a total troll and just likes to stir **** up. He just got done doing it on one of my threads. Don't feed the trolls and they'll starve. I know it's hard, but if you don't respond to their posts, eventually they go away.

It's a consumable piece. Treat it as such.

I had the same thing happen even with a front camera that I used 99.9% of the time. The 0.1% was pulling into an outdoor park parking stall to drop something off and scraped the bottom of the splitter. I have a lift so I put it on the lift and grabbed a can of gloss black and holding a piece of cardboard up to keep the spray from hitting anywhere but the bottom and bottom edge of the splitter sprayed it black. Most of my scrape was on the bottom of the splitter as the curb was low enough that the splitter didn't hit the curb head on but rode up over it and scraped the bottom.

Than I ordered that sacrificial slider thing sold by one of our vendors on the bottom of the splitter.

I haven't had a brain fart since that caused another curb encounter.

As an update, after the initial frustrating of my carelessness, I forgot about this; it was not a big deal. A couple of weeks ago I had some time so I grabbed some 220 grit sandpaper and sanded the rough spots smooth, mainly so they wouldn't tear up my Novistretch bra when I start to use it this spring. It was just a few rough spots on the bottom edge and on and near the very tip. As expected, the sanding smoothed everything out nicely but the sanded spots were clearly visible as a light gray. I put some tire shine on the whole piece, and the damage was completely invisible (to me, anyway). Took all of 5 minutes.

Not sure how long the blackness will last, but this was a simple easy fix that works for me.....I can always reapply (unless and until I hit it again)

If you can not live with it as is I would replace it.
