depends on what the tuner charges for labor/tuning but it's $200 to HPT to unlock the TCM and $200 to license it (plus the tuning). Plus $200 to license the ECM and more to tune it if you so choose.

It's definitely related to the fluid but not a tune. The constant shifting for V8 to V4 in normal driving in any mode is the culprit and certainly made worse by the fluid viscosity issue. If the guys who replaced the TC didn't disable the AFM at the same time, the clock started ticking right then. I'm a little confused as to why you want to take out the AFM via a tune which will void your warranty vs. $175 for a Range module which accomplishes the same thing that the tune would and won't affect your warranty. What's your reasoning?

I already disabled the AFM through my custom engine tune. No need to touch the A8 to get rid of AFM. My car is already outside of the 3 year warranty. It's a 2015 with 23K miles on it. I drag race it a fair amount so I'm hardly worried about my factory warranty.

You had me and some others confused. When you started the thread, it seemed as though you were contemplating about the feasibility of doing a tune to eliminate the shudder.

Guys, the title of the thread is "A8 tuning". I just wanted to learn specifics on what Tuners were doing in the "A8" to eliminate the shudder? I never said that I wasn't tuned (engine) and the whole AFM discussion, as it pertains to the shudder, was new to me. The way I understood the shudder, is it is a combination of fluid, fluid pressure and when/how the TC locks up? Sorry for any confusion.

My 2015 Stingray with Procharger has been tuned ... motor AND trans and still has a TC problem... studdering (getting way worse) @ 26,000 miles, placed in drive or reverse when cold jolts the car forward or reverse. The ONLY out of this is getting a new TC (aftermarket) I would suggest.

My car has had the TC problem from early on as I’ve mentioned in other threads. No tune will help.

This is what I'm trying to figure out. Seems like results are all over the place. Fluid flush works for some but seems to come back? I know mine has. Others have had the TC replaced, which fixed it, and then it came back. Several guys have told me the A8 tune has seemed to remedy the issue by playing with when and how the TC locks? I'm by far not an expert, I just want mine fixed and I'd rather not chase my tail. I went into my dealer this morning and he had the new TSB right on his desk, which talks about a "new" synthetic fluid and procedure process. My car is still in storage but he seemed to think this was actually going to fix it? He also said that it was very unlikely that my TC was damaged? Thus the reason for the post. Trying to educate myself and see what was working for others? Guess I will wait for this new fluid to be released and hope that finally fixes the stupid shudder.

I'm looking forward to hearing about a fix for this as well. I will be making an appointment with my dealership to take my Z in for this issue in the next couple of months. My car doesn't experience the issue often but when it does, it is worrisome because I am afraid it is causing damage on internals.

I know, but I have already converted over to a flex fuel sensor, smaller upper pulley and a few other things. I seriously doubt they would warranty my car at this point? Thx though
