Default Vibration at high speed '17 A8?

Hello Y'all. Love my Zo7. 7500 miles. I've been noticing some on/off/on/off vibration between 90-105ish. Not sure if it gets better above that speed but I don't feel it as much. Smooth as glass under 90. The vibration is present regardless of gear selection. Also tried putting her in neutral during the vibration with no change. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Do the 17's need to have the triple tranny flush?

Where do you feel the vibration? Sounds like it could be wheel balance.

Agreed on wheel balance or maybe a warped rotor. You might also have an out of round or bent wheel. Any pulsing in the brakes, especially at high speed or very slow speed coming to a full stop? Or, does it oscillate as in a throbbing every few seconds?

It's a little odd that it happens only at high speed.

Agree it sounds like a wheel balance issue. Perhaps you should get the wheels checked and balanced at a tire shop that uses the latest Hunter Road Force balancer. They should also be able to tell you if any of the wheels are bent or cracked, and that the tires are within spec. I once had a vibration issue on my '95 ZR-1 with Sumitomo tires that came with the car when I bought it. The tech on the Road Force balancer had to rotate all the tires on their rims to achieve a correct, low wheel weight balance, but on the fourth tire it was so far out of spec (from the factory) that it was impossible to balance it completely. Still, his efforts got rid of about 90% of the vibration and I later got a set of Michelin that were fine.--Bob.

I have a Z07 and had the same issue. A road force balance at discount tire fixed it.

Default Yes earlier 17s need the new fluid

Sounds like the TC.

have the triple flush done or whatever tsb they have for it now. Sometimes that is more pronounced in some cars o some surfaces at higher speeds as in your case.

the newer LV fluid will fix or lessen the effect. If the clutch is too screwed up in your converter they'll replace it and along with the new fluid you will be all good.

I've had multiple GM A8s, one the fluid fixed it (my Z06 but mileage was only 3k) and the new converter and fluid fixed by 16 Sierra A8.

driving it in manual mode should eliminate the tc, shouldn’t it? Sounds like a wheel balance issue. Quite common to come in at higher speed and sometimes can even drive out of it...

If it's an oscillating type of vibration 99 out of 100 it's the converter lock up shudder.

could always be rear end or torque tube or a bearing or anything rotational.

my money goes to the TCC. I had that exact vibration (prevalent above 100 cruise) before the triple flush done.

bring it in to a dealer who is familiar with that exact issue and let them hook it up take the car a ride and it'll confirm it or exclude it.

I don't think dealer will take it above 90mph to check for it.

The op said he dropped the car in neutral and the vibration was still there. The torque converter should not be locking up in neutral

Yup. Most likely a tire/wheel roundness or out of balance issue.

like groundhog day lol.

exactly what everybody said to me way back when.

it's the fluid. Hopefully the converters not too far gone.

OP got the dealer and just tell tell whata happening and ask them to please check if it could be the tsb for the fluid.

the new fluid was started on the line around the turn of 2017. So if it's a 2016 built 2017 definitely has old fluid.

all the wasted converters installed before they fixed the fluid. GM really blew it man. Jist glad they finally figured it out. I had 2 A8 GMs both effected by the early build issues. Both corrected by the new fluid (the truck needing a converter as well)

OP stated that it still does it with the car coasting in neutral. Can't be the TC in this case. As another poster has pointed out, this has to be a rotational issue most likely with the wheels, tires or rotors.

c6zr1’s and c6z06’s with the z07 CCb option hada well known issue with the rotors causing vibration. Owners had to be persistent with the dealers and manufacturer to get replacement rotors. Maybe there is a possibility this could be the problem on your c7z06 with the z07 or j57 Ccb brake option.

That was a nightmare I had to go through to get replaced. 500 mile car with vibration in light brake pressure. Front rotors had to be replaced.

I have a 17 Z07 A8 and have 30k miles and this definitely isn't normal, been 160 and never had the vibration, you should take your car in and get it checked out!

Took the car in for a road force balance. Tech found a leaking patch on one of the front tires that I had bought used. Tire looked new but had been patched. I had bought a used set of wheels and tires to run in the winter from another forum member. 3 of the tires had issues and now so does the 4th. I had the tire checked for balance before but seems to be somewhat better now that it has been rebalanced. Track day coming up next month will test my stock cup 2s out at speed.
