'19 Z06 vs. '19 ZR1

GS sell for about $10K less. Is it worth $10K to go 2 seconds faster and pick up 200hp in the Z06. Yes, that’s easy. Is it worth $60K to shave another 2 seconds and pick up another 100hp. Sorry that’s a tough one.
Now is it worth $140K to go run neck and neck with cars costing 2X to 4X more. To some, absolutely.

You hit the nail on the head. I looked at the ZR1. Then looked at what I can get with a Z06. Then looked at what I can get with a Z06 and a few very simple, very inexpensive mods, which would get it to near ZR1 power levels. That coupled with my dislike for the ZR1 wheels and front bumper design (I hate the wheels and front bumper on the ZR1 - but that is just my personal taste), and it was an easy decision for me. 2019 Z was ordered a couple of weeks ago. No offense meant to any ZR1 owner's, the numbers just didnt work for me.
Bottom line is intended use.
For the street, the Z06 is a terrific ride and an equal substitute to the ZR1 for addressing the performance needs that you are likely to have or experience there --- so it becomes more of an ego thing than anything else. For the track, the ZR1 delivers up the same level of performance as Z06 --- only more of it. There is some question as to whether the ZR1 may have too much HP and introduces the possibility of inadvertently overdriving other key components (tire adhesion, braking) --- but that is more of a driver experience/ability issue more than anything else. Worth noting: A good/experienced driver in a Z06 will beat an average/inexperienced driver in a ZR1 --- every time.

Know what else is worth noting? : The ZR1 will whoop *** on the Z06 in all categories with equal drivers in the seat. Every time.

This is true. Except in the looks department. However beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The GTR is a great performance car as well. It’s BUTT UGLY 🤣

Because the corvette is a mass produced car, with multiple models/trims, plastic exterior and interior pieces, a flawed auto (hopefully the DCT in the C8 will at least bring that level of status up) and most importantly, it's a CHEVY. Because if you classify a car as a supercar given the 0-60 and trap speed, then the hellcat is a supercar too.
All of that is the perfect recipe for it NOT to be a supercar lol
Sorry to break the news but that's what it is. Now if you wanna believe it is, that's great. Just don't mention it to owners of REAL supercars, because your feelings will get hurt quick and bad.

This has got to be the stupidest post that I have read on any forum in years. Don't flatter yourself Pal, no one here is going to have their "feelings hurt" by an obvious tool like you. I actually laughed out loud when I read your remark about the owners of "REAL" sports cars. Hope you feel validated after enlighten us Corvette fans here on what peons we are. LOL!

He has a point only if you feel his opinion is gospel. There are many of us here I assure you that believe the ZR1 is a "supercar". This terminology is quite relative and has different meanings to different people but this A-hole seized the opportunity to put a good smack down on Corvette owners.

dont get worked up, he offended me not to long ago as well. This is all subjective and from my point of view the Z06 was perfect for my needs but I would never begrudge anyone who wants to lay down the money for a ZR1. I love the look of the Z06 as well as its performance. I am really happy with it.

I can agree it’s the Supeprcar for the blue collar worker. It’s attainable by most. I personally think of suoercar/exotic as a more rare vehicle with performance to go with. They come with a higher price tag so obviously aren’t everywhere.

Our cars aren't expensive, nor is it rare, nor does it have expensive bits that make it expensive lol.
I mean hell you can get 1LZ's at discount that cost less than BMW M4's lol
How is that a supercar? But i guess 1/4 times and trap speed matters. Maybe i should get a hellcat for my daily. Then i'll have 2 supercars!!! LOL

Not necessarily. I think folks are paying too much for a Chevy but it’s their money. Supercars are normally higher priced because they are hand built and not put together on an assembly line. Hence the higher cost. No different than those that build a custom home. It’s much more expensive than the typical cookie cutter home. I’m not saying the performance of the ZR1 isn’t in Supercar territory because it is. However there will be plenty around in the next couple years. So it’s definitely not exotic or rare. People willl be able to snag some nice low mileage ones for the cost of a Z06 now.

Too much for a chevy? Then why did you buy a Vette in the first place? I am sure you have read the countless Motor Trend articles declaring the C7 an incredible value. You should move over to the Grey Poupon forum full of Lambos and Mclarens. I have driven several high end cars and still prefer my CHEVY Z06 despite the flaws you mention that I happen to agree with.

Saleen don’t give up credibility by talking about the M3 /M4! Some of us have them and it’s fun enough but we don’t talk about them... They’re good for feeling fast onto an on ramp not actually going fast lol...
