For 20+ years I have had a sports/muscle car AND and SUV. The sports car was always a 4 seater....Mustangs, CTS-V's, etc. Bought the Z06 to replace my last CTS-V because I figured that I didn't need a 4 seat sports car any more.

Well....I guess I need it more than I thought so I have been driving my Suburban more often...and it's a slow boring drive when you have a Z06 to play with. Enter the Dodge Durango SRT; it give me the large towing capacity that I need, some cargo capacity (though nothing compared to the suburban), and some winter weather capacity (though nothing compared to the Suburban). I figured that the compromise was good enough for me to order an SRT to replace the Suburban. Done.

The dealer actually let me have an SRT overnight for a long test drive. Here is the dilemma; it is such a blast to drive, I am wondering whether it should replace the Z06 instead of the Suburban? Something about the awesome hookup of the AWD.........

OK, just kidding, I would miss the manual transmission if nothing else....but I am thinking that the Z06 might get even fewer miles this year.....(currently ~14K after 2.5 years)......

You were considering swapping your Corvette Z06 for a pickup truck but the lack of a manual transmission stopped you? We have very, very different priorities!

I too always had 4 seat muscle cars (modded Trans Am's, etc.). The Z06 is my weekend driver and I only have 9,200 in 2.5 years, but that's me. I wanted the Beast to be my fun car and love it every single time I drive it. Nothing compares... I have my other cars/truck to drive on a daily basis and don't care that they are slow. In my case, I'll keep my paid off boring cars as a daily drivers and have fun whenever I can with my Z06. I'm a different person once I get into my Z06, like Batman, lol.

Your life style may be different, so no one can decide that but you. It sounds like you enjoy having the fun factor all the time in all your cars. I would trade some of my slow time to keep the Z but that's me...Only you can decide.

Nice. I looked at the trackhawk but needed the 3rd row and the 8700 pound towing capacity of the SRT.

How do you choose which one to drive?

I got the Trackhawk last March, the Z06 last August. In the winter it's easy cuz the Z does not come out. In good weather it's a first world problem for sure.

Geez....tough crowd. OK....I guess some of the sarcasm of my comment re: trading the Z06 for the SRT got lost in translation. The SRT is no 4600 pound ballerina, though....it is 5500 pounds. Yes, I do know difference between a sports car and a sports truck. Until recently weeks ago, though, the SRT came with a free pass to the Bob Bondurant SRT experience (SRT Owner's School) out west (or slightly east for you Californians). Sound familiar?

Bondurant's bankruptcy filing seems to have closed that window for the foreseeable future......

I had three CTS Vs between 2009 and 2012, a sedan and two coupes. I loved the CTS V. Wish I had a big pole barn.

Fast as hell and really sharp (literally) looking.

I hear you and wish GM would make a hot SUV. My compromise was to get a Sierra 1500 6.2 8A, which surprised me how fast a vehicle this big could be -not Durango SRT fast, but 0-60 5.7 and a 14.1 1/4 mile would have given many 60 -70s muscle cars a run for their money.

^^^ The 6.2 is finally available in the Suburban, in their new RST package. Thought about it, but decided I wanted a bigger change. Been thinking about the switch for a while.....paid attention over the past year or so on how often I REALLY needed the cargo space or the 8 passenger advantages of the Suburban....and it is more a perception than a reality. I have a utility trailer and a "wheeless trailer" for when I really need to haul stuff that won't fit in the Durango.

It's a dumb move because the Suburban is only 2 years old and is basically perfect...but guys like me/us who buy things like Z06's are not known for making the "smart" moves (fiscally smart, that is) when it comes to vehicles.....

GM was one of the first in with the hot SUV's with the trailblazer SS back in 2005 or so...but that didn't last long......

Ive been very happy with our SRT Durango. 8500 miles so far. Prob the baddest 3rd row available right now. Handling isn't bad but i wouldn't swap the zo6 for one. Feels more planted than any of the challengers I've had before but also a little stiff/rough over bumps even in street mode. Ive got an older suburban for those times when its needed. Id swap the burban in on the Srt and blow the stangs off the line, especially when roads are wet.

We have a Jeep GC right now, wife wouldn't go for the SRT. Now we're looking at the Initiniti QX80 limited for her. Not fast, not slow, just right for her. Initiniti did a great job with that interior, they had to as they riding on a 2004 chassis. Durango SRT for same price just doesn't scratch the same itch for her. Luxury before performance. Oh well.

Ok since this thread has multiple dimensions, how does the Z06 feel to you former CTS-V guys? After a C4, C5, then C6, I'm on year 4 with a 2013 CTS-V, which has about 675 hp (pulley, tune, headers). It's been good but I too have no need for a back seat and can't get some of the Z06 deals out of my skull. So, let's hear it!

Sold my 2012 CTS-V coupe to buy my 2016 Z06. Night and day in power and handling. Z06 is way faster. Just bought my second, 2019 Z06. I miss nothing from the V.
