Modded 16 A8 vs stock 720 1/4mi outcome?

If this is a race to just get to the end of the track first, then your experience should help with reaction time/etc. It still sounds risky since if he gets the launch control setup and gets even a decent pass, your in trouble. They trap 145 consistently. I had one at my annual track rental who held the stock record for a while. If you are racing time slips (ET only) then it can go either way. Good luck and have fun.

Yes... Who's talking about roll races?? A stock 991 turbo S runs 10.5 1/4 miles. A stock Z06 won't run that unless it's the absolute perfect day and track.

LOL. I was thinking the same. Some just can’t keep things in perspective. Not sure how many times I’ve read about a Z06 spanking a fox body mustang. Just a little price difference there as well.

I am not worried about my driving. I can cut a good light and 60ft. I am banking on the fact that he has never been to the track before and wont be able to beat my reaction time. If he gets lucky and trees me then I deserve the loss.
He is somewhat of a braggart and attention ***** (obviously since he has a Huracan, Urus and Ghost as well) and I make fun of him for it...which has brought on the **** talk about my "redneck Chevy."
To the histrionic poster...good grief dude, go drive your car and relieve some stress.

I'd love it if you beat him and definitely think you have a shot, but i sure wouldn't put $5k on it. Race for fun. If you win oohhh the fun you will have rubbing it in to him. If he wins, well for 3x the price he should win. Sometimes it's good to be the underdog :p

Yeah, I doubt I’ll put money on it now. I will definitely race him if he will show up.
He probably won’t. His ego would take a hit if he lost.
Speaking of his 720...
He drove by the set where they are filming the new Bad Boys movie in Atlanta and the director flagged him down and offered him a scene in the movie and $2500 if they can use his car for the movie. They’re filming the scene as we speak. 4hrs of shooting for $2500. Apparently Will Smith is driving the car to a club or something. Pretty cool.

Parameters? 1st to finish line?
Better ET?
1 race?
Red light auto loss?
Get those set in stone before you run.
You got that race if you honestly think you are a 10.0 car.

If you do this race, have fun! I'd love to see a video of it if possible.

Imo. You will destroy him at the track. Driver experience is key here. You knowing your car and him not. NOT to mention cutting a light.

Good call- maybe he'll look up histrionic and learn something about himself. FYI, he doesn't even own a Z06. He just likes to pound his fists and insult people who aren't in full agreement with what he believes.

Always hear people claim how easy it is to run an auto down the qtr mile only to watch them fail..miserably lol
I have taken far less and beaten way "faster".
Good luck hopefully you get that race.

Anything can happen but like I said. If you are 10.0 I dont think chance in hell that novice at the track will come close to 10.0 probably 10.5 or worse...

This isn't a 1/2 mile race. You know what you gotta do, I don't think you'll have a problem. Get the tires hot and rip his soul out, hahaha!

Safety Car
There are a lot of faster 1/4 mile cars out there, and frankly the Corvette has not been a good 1/4 mile racer since they got rid of the solid axle in 63. The corvette is designed to be a road course car. It is balanced 50/50 for road handling. A good drag strip car is weighted for off the line weight transfer to get as much traction to the rear tires as possible, because that is really all that matters at a drag strip. The fact that Corvettes can hold their own at a drag strip is just a testament to the great power they put in these cars, but there will always be something that can beat a corvette. Now on a road race course.....it is a different story. Corvette was so dominant that every other car in the class moved to a different class just to be have a chance to win. Then Corvette racing depowered to get into those classes, and dominated again.
For the $70 gs you spend on a corvette, you could buy a used Mustang with a solid axle and build it up to run way faster than any vette at the strip.
