2016 Z06/Z07 Package rain tires
Hello!
I have searched the forums for information on the best tires for the Z06 in rainy conditions but am still a bit confused as many of the threads I have come across are older. Can anyone assist me? I have a 2016 Z06 with 2LZ Z07 package. I currently run the Michelin Sport Cup tires. While I try to make the best use of my weather forecasting, I make frequent trips (approximately 700 miles) and have got caught in heavy rain twice and it made my heart nearly come out of my chest. I use the Weather mode and slow my speed and that definitely helps but I plan on making a longer trip March 1st (1200 miles). Although bareable, I'd rather not have to stress. I am considering the Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP's, Continental ExtremeContact Sport, or the Michelin Pilot A/S 3 Plus ZP. Does anyone have any experience with either of these tires on the highway thru heavy rain... or any other suggestions? I'm looking for the greatest grip while keeping the performance of the tire. Thank you kindly in advance!

AS 3+
just had them in a major storm on hwy 280 near San Francisco. No problems. They also cut down on the rooster tail you get with Super Sports and cup 2s.

Ditto on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+s. I don't have them on the Z06 yet, as I am running the OEM tires until it they are due to be changed and I will switch to them as well. I have them on some of my other sporty street cars and have been using them for several years. They are not an excellent track tire, but for some occasional hot laps they will suffice. I did have them on my 2104 stingray as well and they were excellent.

Yeah, if you are just concerned with rain, the AS3 is the way to go.
I also highly recommend the Michelin Alpin for cold weather driving, and that includes rain.

Years ago I hydroplaned my 96 GS while on an Interstate traveling next to a semi trailer. No damage to us or the car but MUCH pucker factor at the time. Since then I have had the best all weather tires on my Corvettes that I can find. Go with the Michelin A/S3+. You will also be better equipped if the temperature should be low.

I agree, I have zero issues in rain with the MPSS ZP. I test drove my Z then drove it home over 100 miles in pouring rain, like you said in weather mode, no problems and I had to dodge a tire on the interstate. Manual trans and I wasnt in a fast car in the previous decade...
But, I bet the AS3 is better in the rain

Melting Slicks
Yet another vote for the Michelin A/S 3+ - I bought Forgeline wheels for the summer and have the MPSS mounted. I had the A/S 3+ mounted on my stock wheels for the rainy cool winter we have in western Washington state. They definitely provide a lot more confidence when the temps are cooler and/or there's standing water on the freeway.
