Took my Truck in for an oil change....while I waited I walked into the showroom and saw the Long Beach Red Metalic Z06 , and came back that afternoon with my 2008 Z06 ready to deal.

After searching for the color combo, trim level, and options within a 1500 mile radius and coming up empty after three months, I decided to order. The M7/Shark Gray Vents/Z07/Comp Seats options were non-existent in dealer stock so I ordered in late April and took delivery in mid-July.

I was surfing dealerships in New England online and saw exactly what I wanted on the showroom at Masse in Rhode Island.. Brought my C6 Z to the dealer and drove the new Z home.

Steps:
1) AutoTrader search. M7 with iron brakes, minimum 2LZ within a 500 mile radius
2) Narrowed to 4 cars that were 2 black, 2 orange
3) Called each dealer and asked for the best OTD price, no BS, no add-ons, no surprises
4) Hendrick Chevrolet in Duluth, GA not only won my business they delivered the car for free
I've never ordered a vehicle and received it......I don't have the patience for it. In fact I ordered a 2004 Impulse Blue Metallic GTO with a blue interior that never got built after waiting for 6 months.

Watched cars.com for several months. The filter is great. Was able to keep an eye on about 8 cars very similar to each other. My requirements were WGG/black interior, M7,Z07,black wheels and at least a 2LZ. Was able to make a deal I could live with on one of them in August of 17. No regrets at all.

Pre-owned. Stopped by on a Sunday, when they were closed, just to look. There was a TR with black interior and automatic we had stopped by to see previously. Thought I wanted an A8, so went to look at it again. Then my wife said.."what about that one?" Had not seen it, but there is was...a blade silver M7 with every option I wanted....comp seats, adrenaline red interior, aero, PDR, etc........ 2018 with just over 4000 miles. Worked out the deal, getting a good trade on my C6 vert.

Buy new. Wait until the month they announce that they are about to pull incentives on that old model year, and buy from dealer on last 2 days of month. You can get 20 grand off no problem. Dealer is in a pickle, because if there are 8 grand in incentives and rate, they lose that on the first day of next month. So whatever deal you negotiate down to this month, then say "and as i walk away from this deal, understand, next month, you as a dealership will have to lose an extra 8 grand to get to this deal, that im not even willing to do today. So next month, you'll have to lose 9 or 10 grand minimum to sell this car, above and beyond what you are losing now. Why not lose an extra 7 grand now, beyond what your current offer is, and lets shake hands now?"
Then walk when they say "no way".
They will call you back. Its simple math.
This scenario should be happening in the next few months on 2018's

Dealer stock.
Originally went in for a 17 grand sport to trade my C6 grand sport. They only had auto grand sports. Didn't want that nonsense and i didn't want to drive 2.5 hours back home in the old C6. So i paid a bit more for the Z in a manual.
Got the arctic white with red seats and black wheels with carbon flash bits in a manual, it was the perfect combo.
I was happy. No regrets.

Had no intention of getting a Z but was looking to go to a gray C7 from my 2008 eventually. I was considering every option:
museum delivery, order from big forum dealer, order local but also keeping a close look at Cars.com. It seemed there were a lot
of Z's with 5K miles for sale then a shark gray 2016 with 30K miles showed up at a high end used dealer. Had Chevy do an inspection.
They found a cracked wheel which the dealer replaced. It's a loaded A8. Here it is being rolled to the door December 2017.

Bought from dealer inventory this past December. I was shocked to find the exact car that I was looking for that had been in dealer inventory for over a year in Illinois. I was able to work out a very good deal on this 2017 Z06/Z07. I haven't driven it too much because of the winter weather, but am looking forward to putting some miles on it when the weather warms up.

Did all the research on line, went to the Dealer to visually inspect and confirm options --- then sat down with order codes on a piece of paper and completed the order process in about 20 minutes.
