Default My supercharger upgrade and build

Just sharing the build on my Z that is underway and almost complete. I have been working with Joe Cordes at CPR for a couple years on the evolution of power on my 16 Z. Just like anything in life time and money are often the limiting things with power upgrades. Finally at what I feel will be the last of the power adders for my car. So here is the mods done and some photos to go along with it. Hopefully dyno numbers in the next day or so. I will post those when they get finished. Here is a list of what has been done to the car in completion.

Magnuson 2300 Supercharger
Griptec 70mm upper pulley
ATI/DSX 23% lower overdrive pulley
Katech ported 103mm throttle body
CPR custom fabricated 5” C7Z intake
LME milled LT4 heads
APR head studs and chromoly pushrods
Brian Tooley rockers/trunions
CPR custom grind camshaft 226/244 .635/.614 120 lsa 32% fuel lobe
CPR custom valve covers
DOD kit with VVT lock out
NGK spark plugs
C5R timing chain
American Racing 1 7/8s” Jet Hot Coated headers
Mighty Mouse C7Z wild catch can
CPR custom heat exchanger
Fasterproms expansion tank
DSX ethanol flex fuel system
Alky Control methanol injection system
CPR low side auxiliary fuel pump
All mechanical work done by Cordes Performance Racing, Phoenix AZ

Getting after it. That might be Joe

Heads off

LME ported heads with CPR DOD plate in place

Parts installed. CPR custom 5" intake.

Out of curiosity, why 1 7/8" headers? I would think with the build you have and amount of power you'll be pushing that a 2" would be better suited. Admittedtly, I am not an expert, and interested as to the logic/reasoning.

All good info as my build progresses.

Had this been the plan from the get go it would have been 2" headers for sure.

Subd'
What kind of boost are you estimating out of that pulley setup? (23% lower / 70mm upper.)
I have a 18% lower and 80mm upper currently and see 14-15psi with a similar setup.

Anyone know what the upper limits in RPM or PSI are for the 2300 or, what's "too much" in terms of diminishing returns.

Makes sense. Had me second guessing buying 2" for mine in anticipation of bigger gains later. haha

Be careful with that upper/lower pulley ratio. At 6500 engine RPM, you'll exceed the max recommended supercharger RPM of 23,000. IMO, with those cam specs you would want to rev to at least 6800 which makes things even worse for the supercharger RPM. You might be the first one to spin the heartbeat this far

I've spun heartbeats this hard for years on other platforms. It'll rock

I'm about to install the 2300 heartbeat and 1 7/8" long tubes with 3" x pipe on my z. Going with a 75mm pulley and might do the 15% lower. I can't wait to see how your set up lays the power down!

Made a thread awhile ago on it. We tested it on another heartbeat car with heads/cam, and it gained 25 rwhp over an afe. Keep in mind I've swapped afe & halltech on the dyno and they make exactly the same.

We did 3 pulls with the afe and 3 with ours. All Temps were lined up the same as well. This intake is being tested next week on our max effort oem blower setup that went 9.4. We have already sold 10 of these and will be making another batch of 5 in 2-3 weeks

I don’t have a cam nor heads, just the 2300, AFE, 103mm and headers. What do you think your intake is good for ?? What’s the material of the tubing? Not heat absorbing?

I would doubt you pickup anything. We swapped a 103 TB on our tuners z with a maggie and he is no cam/heads just bolt on's maggie and it picked up 0 HP. Now on a heads/cam car i've had them gain 12, your air flow demands just aren't there yet.

It's made of aluminum
