Default New Z owner with some ?'s

Hi all, just pulled the trigger on a new leftover 2018 Z06 2LZ Coupe this morning. It has PDR, Transparent Top, Battery Protection, Chrome wheels, and chrome badge package.

First thing that I'm curious about is the Z's come standard with red calipers and mine has black but I don't see the $595 charge for the option anywhere, anyone else familiar with that?
Secondly and more importantly, what are the little must haves for protecting the car from rock chips, types of paint protection, or basically what protects everything?

I've already ordered weathertech mats for it including the cargo mat.

The car is 4 hours away and we haven't seen it in person yet. We will be going to pick it up next weekend and can't wait!

Awesome car. Not sure about the rotors, that's kinda odd. If you are looking to protect the paint the usual choice is Clear Bra or an equivalent. I am not a big fan.

When you say weather tech I think rubber mat to catch snow. Is that what you are putting in?

I personally have a clear bra on all six of my cars. They haved saved my paint in dozens of situations over the years. It takes a skilled person to properly install a clear bra and unfortunately I have seen some not so perfect applications. I chose Xpel Ultimate for my cars. I was fortunate enough to get my C7 Z06 last weekend and the previous owner had the whole car covered in Xpel Ultimate. The installer did a fantastic job....best I've ever seen.

Todd, it all depends how much money you want to throw at it. The 2018 models have decent ground effects that will deflect many of the stone issues, but if this is your first C7 Z06, you need to understand this is a "wide body" Corvette, not a Stingray. These wide body C7's, throw road debris and small stones up and some/many are not caught by the side skirts, but are thrown against the car at the rear quarter panel area....those carbon fiber rear brake ducts get destroyed depending on the crap on your roads and highways. Some of us (maybe many of us, I am one of them!) believe the ACS Rock Guard front wheel splash guards do a great job of deflecting this debris which can actually tear up the rear quarter panels. Going one step further, use Xpel Ultimate, the thickest protective film available, along the sides of the car, the front, the hood and front mirrors, if you like. Just depending on how far you want to take it, you could go anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand (or more) dollars. She's a classy lady, but it takes a bunch of cash to keep her looking good............

Sorry - off topic, but what rims are those? I also have an Orange Z with grey calipers/CCB and was planning to replace my OEM wheels at some point.

OP - Xpel on the front, sides, A pillars, side skirts not a bad idea. Would be interested how you like the clear top.

Wouldn’t drive mine off the lot until 3M was installed. I have black calipers on my 2019 and I was definitely charged.

I actually looked into some of the ACS products today and like their splash guards.

That part has me very puzzled. I know the calipers should have been an upcharge, Is it possible it was a mistake at the assembly plant?

For paint protection, I would get Xpel paint protection film installed. I had it done at the dealership before I took delivery. Worth every penny!!

I guess anything impossible. Glad mine were black. Nothing looks worse on orange cars than red or yellow.

Looks awesome!! If you plan on keeping it along time you may want to wrap it. Mine is getting trailer from my house this week for the full Suntex wrap.

expel ultimate and youll be good to go.

The other must have if you intend to drive it fast, is start searching for a shop that has the rear caster tool for wheel alignment, vettes come with screwy alignment from the factory we have all noticed, and chevy dealers rarely have THE tools needed to fix it.

Search DSC ALIGNMENT, and youll have plenty to read here

Align it if you want the tires to last.

Forgeline VX1 wheels (20x12 and 19x10). I've since lowered the car on stock bolts after pics were taken.

OP- I would at least wrap the front end and down the rocker panels as a minimum. It's amazing how much crap gets thrown up at the car.

I would definitely buy ACS XL Rock Guards. These tires throw up a lot of debris . The GM Splash guards just do not protect.
ACS is high quality, great finish and easy to install and the best protection.
I would also Expel the entire front end and mirrors.

Enjoy your beautiful ride!!

the car has tremendously more grip during acceleration once the rear caster is aligned properly. Also more grip and safer behavior in a curve. People who dont drive their cars hard may not notice, but for those that do, its night and day almost.
