Federal judge green lights Corvette Z06 class-action lawsuit
The District Court ruling says GM had to have been aware of defective cooling system.
A lawsuit filed against General Motors by a group of disgruntled Chevrolet Corvette Z06 owners has been given the green proceed in court after a federal judge reviewed the case.

I received a forwarded email on Friday with an attachment from the law firm that went state by state for each of the plantiffs. Some claims were tossed. Some were kept. It was not consistent state by state.
If I read it correctly, the suit is proceeding on a state by state basis, not Federal.
Maybe one of our esteemed members passed the bar and can properly interpret the document???
Question is if GM is found at fault and liable for penalties, what is the remedy? Reworked car? Dimished value checks? Buy-back?

most likely a check in the mail. Can you post the screen shot(s) of the email? I am curious which states and what it says about them. I might sign up for it too just to see what it yields.

Here's what members of the class action suit will get from this :
All that will happen is that GM will settle for some pathetic token promise to owners and the lawyers will be paid about $5 million dollars. These cases rarely pay off for the members of the suit, and the lawyers dont care about you or your problem, they love these things because the settlement brings big paydays for them and the defendant corporation will normally settle out of court. This is a waste of time for owners.

Drifting
A photographer sued a company using his photo on their product and was awarded like $60k. After lawyer fees and taxes I think he got $1300 lol. It's better than nothing but isn't worth the hassle and only the lawyers get rich.

right, but at the same token, its no hassle to us. Everyone with a 2015 to 2016 z06 is 95% likelihood, going to get a check in the mail. Better than nothing at this point.

The whole point of class actions is that it's too expensive for consumers to go at it alone, too expensive for the consumer and too expensive for the legal system to take on the burden. Instead, a fat *** can get fatter on a couch waiting for his check to come in the mail with no risk, no dollar spent. A lawyer that has worked 80hours/week for 20 years will pick up the case and sometime lose his hard work and big money on a case that goes sour.
What exactly is a waste of time for owners? Owners do NOTHING, risk NOTHING, pay NOTHING, except the dollars GM screwed you on false dreams. Instead of working against GM you are working against the guy who's working for you for free.
Do lawyers get paid too much for work in class actions? Hard to answer when folks don't even bother to wrap their heads around why we have class actions to begin with. It's always hard to assess payoffs when the job assumes so much risk. Maybe they're underpaid. I'd love to see a full blown analysis.

My 15 Z06 can run full 20 minute sessions without coming close to over heating. I run my car a lot at VIR and have run it in temps as high as the mid 90s without over heating. Have never had a limp home occurrence. On top of that I have never met anybody with a C7Z at the track that told me they were having a over heating problem.

right, but Bill, you added the 17 aux radiator and the taller lid blower from 17 also (or planned to) if im not mistaken.
Whats so bad about GM being court ordered to throw you a couple grand as reimbursement?
Its all good.

It would be nice for GM to be forced to perform a recall and add secondary cooling at no cost. When driven spirited on regular roads it doesn’t go into red but goes well above half id say 3/4 on temp so I’m sure would overheat on track

if you want the secondary radiator for kit for 700 bucks, let me know, we figured out all the part numbers etc, and can order it all GM oem parts instead of $1,300 or whatever they ask for the thing.
