Default Has anyone had a 2019 Z or ZR1 rear diff open yet?

I'm trying to figure out if the zr1 runs 2 or 4 spider gears in the rear diff. I know the 19 z and zr1 share the same rear diff part number and that it is stronger, but so far I have not heard any solid confirmation one way or the other on the spider gear count... or what makes the zr1 diff stronger than the 18 and prior z06 if it still only has 2 gears as they all did.

Thanks guys

I recall reading somewhere that it was a change in the heat treatment of the spider gears but it will be interesting to know for sure. I specifically chose to order a 19 over an 18 on the lot to get that and several other upgrades that were recent additions this year. This and the cooling updates were the major ones.

It won’t have 4 pinion spiders, but I have not taken one apart. It’s only a matter of time though, everybody brings me loose **** in 5-gallon buckets when they blow it up....

It is a 2 gear setup but spider tooth contact angle was changed from previous to improve strength according to Tadge.

Is there a list somewhere of the 2019 Z06 improvements and / or ZR1 parts shared with?

I have one , the 2019 C7 ZR1 has only two spider gears but they are redesigned and stronger than all previous C7 diffs .

I can show you a schematic and lay out of the 2019 diff you want ..

If you want to order one for an auto here is your part #
GM 84653461 this diff will come with 2.41 ring and pinion gear set .
if you need a gear set for manual 3.42 gear set it will be a different part number . But that is way too much gear for an auto .

PS C6ZR1 did utilize a 4 gear spider set that can be converted to work , but the RPM wavelock diff is the way to go .for a severe duty 900+HP capacity . For those below 700-800 HP the zr1 diff works adequate. Just try to avoid tire hop and wheel shake

Hope this helps
