Default New Z06 owner

Hey Everyone,

My name is Nick and I recently purchased a used 2015 Shark Grey Z06 Manual Z07 package with the yellow painted calibers, ground effects package, competition seats, Kalahari interior color, carbon fiber dash trim with 6,800 miles on the ODO. It is a one owner and always been serviced at same chevy dealer. I am very excited because this is my first American Sports car!! I have owned all European or Japanese sports cars in the past. 2006 E46 M3, 2015 M4 and 2013 GTR. I just wanted to say I hi to everyone, I have been looking for the past 3 months going back and fourth between a used 911, F-Type R and Tesla Model 3 performance and finally decided on the vette after making countless test drives. I am not new to the tuning and after market world because most of my previous cars have had turbos that I have modified but this is my first supercharged motor. After reading the forums for hours. I have decided to do a few bolts on: CAI, Headers, X-Pipe, Pulley, Tune and maybe LG lowering spindles. I personally love the stock C7 black rims so I think they will look perfect with a lowered stance and maybe spacers. Or maybe after I save some more money to buy rims ha
Anyways, Is there any advice you owners have? problems? issues? I keep reading about the Overheating issue if you track it often and small engine failures on early models. I am hoping to track it 4 or 5 times this summer but I wanted to wait a few months and get used to the car first. I pick it up this weds )
Thanks

Congrats on a great choice. We have the same car, color, and miles (except I have 2016 1LZ). Please post some pics!

About the engine temps:
As I was deciding to purchase my Z, I was also worried about overheating issues, but on the street its fine. Since you have manual (good choice!), there is a GM aux radiator upgrade you can get that will drop your coolant temps to the halfway indicator in street driving. If you plan to track the car and you are handy, it's is an easy install. Sadly. the class action lawsuit just about put an end to GM offering this upgrade for free or a reduced cost. There is one for sale on the forum now ($620 shipped I believe).

If you want to upgrade the SC lid to a 2017 (taller, more cubic inches) you can for about $500, though a used one just sold for $375 I think. You will need to upgrade the hood liner (another $150) to accommodate. That will add about 5-10HP according to some, but won't help cooling without replacing the cooling bricks to a 2017 as well. Too much trouble for me to bother. Drive it for a while and see for yourself if the coolant going over half way point bothers you or not. At first mine did (came form a cool-running LT1 Stingray), but now, after 2000 miles, I don't even think about it. Its normal.

Upgrades:
Get to know your car stock for about 500 to 1000 miles before you do non-cosmetic upgrades. That being said, get the MGW shifter! Its a no-brainer. Best $370 you will spend. You can install it yourself in about 1 hour.

Post some pics so we see what you have.
Enjoy.

At 6800 miles, I'm sure the Cup2 tires are almost gone, or replaced already. If replaced, what tires do you have now? Tires are a whole other conversation.

Car looks great with the pop of yellow. Nice center caps, I just added the black ones. Stock wheels are heavy and prone to crack. So watch out for that

You have the 3LZ package + exposed carbon roof. Your msrp was over $100K, maybe $103K ! Nice.

Spend the $8 and get a window sticker to find out what you had on it from the factory....
https://monroneylabels.com/

One more thing since you have 3LZ...get yourself a windshield shade. The dashboard leather will de-laminate if temp gets too hot. In fact your dash leather may have already been replaced since you have a 2015. CarFax might show that if you read the maintenance items closely. Also, investigate a GMEPP extended warranty form one of the forum sellers. I won't help with dashboard issues, but will come in handy with mechanical, radiators, infotainment, etc.

Thanks guys,

Larry, It is a 2LZ with the factory add on's.
I will have to check out the website, thanks!

RegnaR, I agree, I love the yellow accent.
Do you have aftermarket rims? With so many styles, Its near impossible for me to decide. I do not mind spending about 5k for a nice set but I am not going to drop 9K plus for HRE rims etc. They look gorgeous but I do not have that kind of cash.
