They are great values and great bargains for those who like and can afford performance cars, but they are not dirt cheap. Most people could never dream of spending $100K on a toy. A ten year old Ford Focus would be dirt cheap.....

I guess to <insert your favorite billionaire here> a 6 million dollar Learjet is dirt cheap....perhaps compared to a 15 million dollar Gulfstream......but to the rest of us....not so much.....

I thought I was a comedian but after reading this I realize Im just another overachiever that will not retire.

Its interesting that folks that have well paying jobs tend to avoid talking about them and keep their social network footprint small.

I think a survey with the following questions may provide better insight.

1. How old are you?
2. Do you earn more then $150,000 but less then $200.000 or $200,000 to $250,000 or greater than $250,000
3. Married or Single (divorced)
4. Have multiple cars/motorcycles/airplanes

I predict you will find:
- 45% over retirement age
- +60% earn over $200,000 /yr
- 60% married, 60% divorced at some point and only 10% single. Yes you can be divorced and remarried.
- Yes to multi Cars and probably a couple of motor cycles. A handful have an airplane too.

I'm an auto enthusiast and have owned a few sports cars through the years.
Im currently looking at the c7 Z. Originally looking at c6Zs but I test drove an auto c7 and fell for the interior upgrades.
Get a nice c6z and upgrade the seats to Caravaggio and get the heads addressed. It’s a better car, lighter, the ls7 motor is more fun to drive with the high rpm rush. C7z has too much worthless tech. C6z is a sports car / c7z is a 2 door Cadillac.

Just to pile on. It's about being smart with your money. You have to make a pretty good coin, above average, but you don't have to be rich to have one. Damn, now I have a Prince song in my head and not Little Red Corvette.

Most people don't live within their means. By that most people say "How much home can I afford?" when house shopping. I picked a house that is about 1/3rd of what I am able to afford on my own without my girlfriend's income being considered. When it was time to car shop we bought nice vehicles but we purchased well below what we were able to purchase. Those things are allowing me to pay off the house in less than 5 years of ownership and not drain my bank accounts and still let us enjoy life. If that means I plop down $20k of a deposit on the C8 to guarantee I get the one I want? Then so be it and I will pay the balance when it's delivered. If I didn't do that most people would think I make about 1/3rd of that I actually do.

Another bean counter here.

Delayed gratification, the key to many things in life.

I swear you lost that job. I had a text from you that said the following

"I'm so scared right now. I'm just gonna do what's sensible. I'm going to get a job with Enterprise Rent-a-Car, because they have an excellent corporate structure. And they give you all the tools to be your own boss."

I believe it's a balance. Enjoy today but still plan for tomorrow. If I was single I would live different but having a family depend on me changes things. I still have a few small money pits (my Camaro) but that's mild. lol

Kinda my original point. 100+k isn't pocket change for 97% of the population
