My first new Corvette was an only car when I was single. It was bought with a loan. Not a mortgage like today, but a 36 month loan. It was a 76. I was pretty young at the time. My next were several C4s. Most as 2nd or 3rd cars and none at the same time. Again with a loan. My C5Z06 was bought as a 4th car and I still had my 93 C4 at the time. My C6Z06 replaced the C5Z06. I wrote a check for that one since it was 4 years old w 4200 miles when I bought it. My C7Z06 was bought when I decided to simplify things and sell the older cars. I traded my C6 plus a check for that one. Never did anything really important but was always able to reasonably support myself and my habits although I never earned a lot of money. I just figured fun habits were more valuable than keeping your money until you were too old to enjoy it.

If I cant pay cash for something (House, Cars, Vacations, etc) I simply dont buy them. I only use the credit cards to get cash back/points/frequent flier miles. Glad to be 35 and completely debt free with no mortgage, car payment, etc.

My only payment is my home but I have enough to pay it off. However, I may need that money to buy the Batmobile if it's ever cheap enough and to get a loan for that is difficult. lol
Vehicles are paid for, no college debt (paid every red cent out of pocket and worked during school) and no stupid credit card stupidity to pay off. Agreed on the vacations. We don't take a lot but my gift to multiple people is yearly passes to Disney.

I hear ya. And if there aren't Benjis in the can to wipe my *** with, I just don't take a ****! 99% of people can't pay cash for a house at ANY age, much less 35. Not all of us are trust fund babies.

The only help I got from my parents was they paid for my college and they have good connections to get me jobs but other than that I did it all on my own. Working at Subway sandwiches cleaning toilets at 17 to working the night shift at a gas station. My dad has passed and yes my mom is a millionaire (and yes I am her sole inheritor) I have done it all on my own working my butt off. Even though I know someday I will inherit a good amount of money I still work my *** off at the dealership even coming in on my days off to make more money. I always say there are 2 things in life no one can ever have too much of which is Money and Sex.

Not poking at you or anyone but if they pay for your college and their connections got you your jobs.....what did you do?
It's still up to you to do well after the fact but having those opportunities is huge. Again, not saying you're not smart or a hard worker or bad at your job.

I am 35, Not married. No kids. I dont even own a full size house. I live in a townhouse that I paid $230k cash for since I didn't want a monthly payment and didnt want to pay closing costs on. I could have gotten a $600k house and gotten a 30 year mortgage but my property taxes, electric bill, other overheads would have been a hell of a lot more and id be stuck making monthly payments. If I wanted I could have gotten a Porsche GT3RS but I would be in a 6 year car loan instead of having a paid off 2018 Chevy z06. My point is most people buy **** they really cant afford and then become slaves to the banks to make those huge monthly payments. Yes, I understand we all want those gigantic houses and $250k cars but if you stay within your means you can retire earlier and not have the stress that tomorrow if you lose your job your house will be foreclosed on and your car repossessed.
Lots of people live paycheck to paycheck in this day and age, the credit card companies reel you in and trap you if they can, same with everything else, its fill this out and here is the terms and if anyone bothers to read/understand their amortized interest on any loan then you know that game is rigged for sure.
Now financing @ 0%..........take that ball and run with it all day long, or sub 3% when your money can earn 2x or 3x that is not a bad way to go short term, but paying cash is always the best if it makes sense.
0% is the best way to conserve capitol and use their money, did it on many GM Vehicles over the years, its essentially free money for as long as they want to extend it to you.

All true, you also need 1 years worth on expenses in CASH so if you need to find another job you can go a year without stress.
