Default Track mode display woth orange moving bar?

I got into my car today and noticed something I hadn't seen before. There was a thin orange to red line following above the RPM gauge. As I drove that line got smaller and smaller and finally went away. It looked like it represented heat of some sort but it went away the more I drove??

On the subject of the track display. I just recently started using that display pretty exclusively unlinked to the driving mode. I like it but the shift inductor lights above I never see them come on. Do they only activate when you approach 6k RPM or what?

It goes away entirely when the water temperature reaches ~ 175 Fahrenheit.

The shift lights come on as you approach red line on the tach. I have seen them in manual mode on my auto but suspect they might come on in Drive but I generally do not operate that hard street driving. I will watch sometime. The shift dots do show up on your HUD also as you approch red line.

I figured it was something like that. Ya I have a m7 and haven't seen them come in. I haven't shifted at redline though either so. Ok thanks.
