Default Leftover 2017 Z06 at dealer

Hey guys! I need some input from you on a 17’ Black Z06 at a Dealership. The MSRP is 104,730 on this thing and they have a sale price on it of 85k. Options are: A8, 3LZ, Z07 Pkg, Appearance Pkg, Battery Protection Pkg, Carbon Flash Grnd Pkg.

So I booked it out on KBB and it’s coming in at around 70k or so for trade in. If I was to buy it used from a dealer around 75-77k.

Good deal or not?

You describe it as a leftover '17--do you mean that it is a new 2017 that had not been sold? If so, it would have the full warranty, which adds value but I would have to wonder why it never sold, and I would think the dealer would be absolutely desperate to get rid of it. If it has been used by the dealer as a demo or personal car, then it will have an in service date when the warranty will have already begun. So in service date and mileage would be important to know, and if it has been used for a while by the dealer, it is just another used car with no special extra value, and then you have to do your regular due diligence for buying a used car (i.e., Carfax and auto check). --Bob

Nope.. Never sold or a demo. I thought the same thing about never selling. Maybe because of the color or what not. I have a friend though who is salesman and he told me that more likely what happen was is that the dealer sit on it hoping to get top dollar back in 17’ and never did, so now that they paid it off and no incentives from GM. They won’t budge from that 85k number though. So maybe that’s what they bought it for!

I bought my '16 Z06/Z07 A8, 3LZ, CCB, Carbon fiber pkg., last year new from dealer. MSRP was 109,635 and final price was 81k. Car had 23 miles on it. ( Few test drives, or several 1/4 mile runs!! Ha-Ha!)

Full factory warranty and spring mountain offer. You should be able to get a little more off!

Maybe they still haven't learned their lesson on not being willing to negotiate.

The dealer will remain irrational longer than you will care to wait. In 2018 chevy increased the thickness of the a8 Z06 radiator from 1 3/8 inches to 2 1/8 inches. Worth a few pennies more at an eager dealer for an 18 or 19 version.

This is my thoughts as well. Maybe 82k if it’s got everything you’re looking for.

If the car is as you say it is then arrange financing ahead of time, give the dealer a call, give them a price and say call me by xxx.xxxx if interested. As for what the car is worth you are haggling over less than 4% difference.

With an MSRP of 104K it should have both roofs. You might want to check on that. I think 85K is a fair price, my only concern would be that the car that has basically sat still for 3 years. Fluids, hoses, etc., tend to not stand up well to time and disuse.

If it's not exactly what you want, color, options, etc., you should pass on it. You can get 3LZ '17's with 2 or 3 thousand miles on them now for 70K, or a new '19 for close to what they are asking for this one.

If it's exactly the car you want, then go for it.

New car sitting for that long without being driven concerns me. Id be happier if it had 10k miles and was driven regularly.

I pulled the trigger on a 2017 leftover Z06 last year. Paid mid 70k for it (MSRP was $105k). 40 miles on it and never been serviced/registered before. My bank was able to pull the NADA price on it - came in around low 80k last year.

I'd say your assessment is spot on - low to mid 70s is an agreeable price for a 2017 car in 2019. The used car range for 2017 3LZ cars is in the high 60s to low 70s range. Just my 2 cents.

Thought you posted that you got it for under $79k a few months ago? no?

Gotta keep those stories straight bro.

OP. They aren't gonna move from that number. And dont believe the bs tossed around in these threads without the sales sheet to back up the extraordinary claims some make.

Dealers aren't giving 30% or more off a new Z06 unless something happened to it. Eve. Then I have yet to see it (legit) here or otherwise. And I'm around a ton of them..

I personally wouldnt do it. I can get a 100000 Z06 for 87k without breaking a sweat on a factory order...

If you are really looking to spend in 80 grand range then should look at kerbeck or other forum dealers for 2019s in stock. If this 2017 was like 30% off the MSRP then a different ballgame.

To state the obvious, while the car is "new", it is 2 model years old. So the second you drive it off the lot, it's a used, 2 year old car. To put it not so nicely, if you buy it at $85K, it will be worth around $72K (according to KBB trade in value) immediately. I would keep looking.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and input! I agree with most of you as this thing has been sitting for over 2 years now. If it was 70k I would jump all over it! I will push them harder and maybe I might get close with some stuff thrown in, extended warranty and other stuff... I will keep ya posted..

16/C7Z- How do you get that factory order for that 87k? Go to a dealer? Thanks!

My thoughts exactly!!

Plus when the C8 is revealed on 7-18-19, the interest in C7s will go down even more.
