Here's something for you: momentum= mass x velocity. The higher the mass is, the higher the momentum is, which in turn means it would need a greater force to stop (increased braking distance in other words).

There's more to a car than a quarter mile time. I would much rather do a track day than spend a day at the drag strip where you may get to drive your car for maybe a total of about a minute over 6 hours..

Carbon fiber brakes. Now those would be light. I hope the new ZR1 come with those.

You should stick to your standard "I procharged my Z06 and I'm gonna add meth and E85" posts.

Doug, either you have the drollest sense of humor on this forum or I am thoroughly confused...I'm not sure which.

I hope the wing is retractable. Comes up at like 60mph...like the Porsche ones do. Cleans up the look when you don't "need" the extreme aero.

Yea...I don't think that wing on this Z is going to do that.

You mean Carbon Ceramics? To answer your question, yes, carbon ceramics help stop a car quicker, but I'm 90% sure a good steel brake set up with the right pads will stop just as good for less money. For what's it's worth, the Z06 doesn't necessarily need carbon ceramics, just good brakes in general because the car has pretty sticky tires and aero which to aid in braking.

Going back to my point though, if the car weighed less, it would stop quicker due the fact that it's momentum would be lower and a lesser force would be needed to stop the car.

I think he's somewhat starting to understand physics.

^ actually a set of iron brakes will stop a car in the same distance as a set of CCM's, as long as the tyres are the same, and the brakes are both 'cool'.

What CCM's will do is: be less reactive to fade from heat; have less unsprung weight which will enhance handling; produce far less brake 'dust', and last longer on a street driven car. Oh, and generally look 'nicer'. lol

I agree, although I would add that they will stop just as good granted that the iron rotors will apply the same force (although it seems some of the iron choices out there actually do better).

Nice to see GM jumping on the bandwagon and getting the cooling where it needs to be for the track users.
Wonder if the larger hood bump will mean a larger SC?

Larger SC and more HP....check;
Front heat exchangers for better cooling...check;
Rear wing for more downforce....check.

Z07 track option...standard....check.

All directed at the track user.

Is this (the 2 giant pics with the cartoon-red-title of your one-off-street-legal-race-whatever) your signature?

nice car but please quit adding them to your posts -
