Now that the ZR1 has been released who is buying one and how many will they sell ???
Now that the ZR1 pictures have been released in DUBAI who is buying one or trading in their current C7 for one ? How many do you think they will make a year? Don't want to many on the road too make my C7 Z06 look REALLY SLUGGISH LIKE IT CANT EVEN BARELY GET OUT OF ITS OWN WAY AT LEAST WHAT TADGE SAYS ANYWAYS. Real hard being second fastest GM car ever built.

A couple of things will keep me from buying one. The first and simplest one is that I haven't the coin to play in that level of the stratosphere any longer. Perhaps things will change for my finances, but it's unlikely in the near future, so I don't see this happening. I expect this car, even at invoice, to be stupidly expensive and just out of my range.
The second is more of a timing thing. I did the "Engine Build Experience" for my current Z06, and I sorta like that bond I have with the car. Currently and for the foreseeable future, the EBE is on hold. They're doing a lot of work in and around the PBC and just don't have the room for a dedicated spot for EBE customers. Yet. I expect that to change after things settle in the plant, but I don't know when.
.The car goes on sale this spring, and GM expects to make 2,000-3,000 of them at the plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, but production will not be limited.
Pricing has not been announced but could easily exceed $130,000. The 2009 ZR1 started at $105,000; a carbon fiber package alone added $15,000. The 2018 base Stingray coupe starts at $56,490 and the Z06 starts at $80,490. Juechter said the ZR1 won’t be double the price of the Stingray.
Sounds like they will build as many as they can sell, and looks like a starting price of under $113,000 if we are to believe everything in the article.
I think the smart play would be to wait until the mid engine is revealed and see how I like the styling(not a huge fan of the back of the C7 but this car looks amazing overall). I'm guessing the dealers will try to get $150k out of this at first and some people will bite.
Plan is to retire at 62 next Sept. I could work 6 more months and trade my 15 Z51 for the ZR1... was really looking forward to retirement but 6 months should go by pretty quickly. Hmmm...
Happy with what I have. Retired is just a word I stopped working over 1 year ago turned out to be smart move. Life is to short already had 40 years and 6 months in and was only 58. Doing work for myself now and getting more ahead.
Not spending cash for ZR1 and not going for 140,000 OR 2538.00. a month for one for 60 months?
While I’m a fan of all Corvettes and am happy to see the Flagship of the Flagship come back, I don’t think I’ll buy another till the next generation.
I may be on the other side of the coin, but I bought my Z51 Stingray to keep, specifically because they brought back the Stingray. I used to want a C2 or early C3 because of that heritage, so when I saw the C7 and it’s sleekness I knew it was the Corvette for me.
Always happy to see other models on the road though, no matter if they are higher or lower than mine.

Intersting that MotorTrend says they are building unlimited numbers of them, especially when it has been called by GM a limited edition. Perhaps GM meant “one year produced only.”
And are there not going to be, as typical, limitations on the parts that GM’s specialty suppliers can provide?
Producing large, blemish-free carbon fiber items is tricky and no one is going to accept a $125,000 ZR1 a blemished shaker hood, nor the huge ZTX CF wing version for $150,000K.
Pricing, interesting that MotorTrend is talking $113,000 when Car and Driver and several others are talking $120,000+.
I will likely pick up a screaming deal on a Z06. Even though I can afford a ZR1 I just can't imagine spending $120K on a car. Especially one I will only track a few times a year.
It's tempting to get one. Doesn't make any sense to do it but I could say the same about my z06. I got a 15 m7 before anybody, but GM I'm sure, knew about the heating issues. I'd hate the get one of these and find out there's something else that bites me. Just finished installing the secondary radiator and power steering cooling on my z today.
f I could afford one, I'd buy one. But, the Z06 is at the top of my price range. If my daughter were finished with college, I could swing it...but considering she's 6 and in kindergarten, I'll have to wait.
I think the first year they will sell 2,000 of them. After that I see 500-750 per year. The better question is will the ZO6 sales drop like they did with the C6 when the ZR-1 came out in 2009? We now have 10 different Corvette models in the line up.
