Not rated for enough, actually.

So GM added port injection along with direct injection, I wonder if that is to minimize the valves getting coked up with baked on oil.
So much for a DOHC engine its just a LT4 with a larger supercharger and it still has plug wires...
I guess I can wait for a mid-engine model...if I can afford it.

Also, I wouldn't call it just an LT4 with a larger S/C. That's like calling the LS9 an LS3 with an S/C on top. I think we'll see its much more than that when the official specs come out.

I can almost guarantee its solely for performance reasons. I know the BMW guys add port FI to their DI engines for extra fueling that they can't get out of the DI system.

After bankruptcy the second attempt at creating a C7 was castrated by very limited funding. So we ended up with a dumbed down, over weight, overheating, compromised Z06. There is NO way to fix flawed design, but to start over. That is why you have seen band aid after band aid applied that do not solve the problem.
So in the last year of production we get the ultimate C7, The Ace Bandage Mad Max version (ZR1).

I expected something more to be honest.. For a starting price at $120.. meaning 140k or more for the Highest package. The Decked out Z07 is only $110k MSRP and I got my 2016 for 70k.. Double the price for 100hp and some minor upgrades doesn't make sense. I rather have TWO z07s.. Am I also the only one who doesn't like the look of the ZR1 Aero package? I do like that they got rid of the splats..

Truly great sports cars have always been and always will be light and nibble. In the Corvette family, the C5 Z06 and C6 Z06 are perfect examples.

While I agree that adding weight is not IDEAL...it's part of the 'safer' more eco friendly automobile society we live in. The ZR1 won't cost $300k...so something has to give...One thing the ZR1 likely will be is the fastest car on the track 99.9% of the time when compared to ALL other stock production cars. So heavy or not...it's gonna be faster than all those 'truly great light cars' you allude to.
Enjoy it while we can...in 20-30 years you won't be allowed to drive...human drivers will be a liability.

Just thinking, how is thing going to run at any track with sound requirements? If its as loud as the prototypes, it won't pass anywhere. Hell, people might get exhaust tickets on the street in New England.

just not that excited about it. End of run and ME around the corner. Love my z06 and the wheels on the zr1 are a major dissapointment. as it's the last run of the C7 I think GM should have boosted the C7 to 525 or 550 HP which would excite more buyers of vettes than the ZR1 will which appeals to a small segment that actually track their cars or want the baddest and latest vette for bragging rights. 650 HP is way more than I can use on the street and at times even wonder would I have been just fine with my Z51

agree.. hate the “Star” wheels. Hate the aero package. The Z06 to me in my eyes is near perfect. Feel like this was a step down for twice the price and not much more performance. Guessing that GM is gonna make those front coolers available for Z06 and sell it with a fitable front bumper and that’s the upgraded front cooling kit for 2015-16s

I know it will be an absolute beast and it would eat my Z06 for breakfast on a track, but I don't take my car to the track and I can't use the 650 hp I've got on the street as is so another 100 is not a selling point for me. I'd definitely rather have my Z06 and put the extra cash toward another toy.
