Same Tadge BS as he knocks every predecessor car with the one they are replacing it with. Why doesn't he just keep his mouth shut and let people enjoy the Corvettes they have. This was his quote:

Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter says, "after you drive this car for a while, a Z06 feels really sluggish, like it can barely get out of its own way."

Looks like the weight gain isn't as bad either.

"These changes, and the larger supercharger, add about 60 pounds of weight to the car. Curb weight is 3,560 pounds for a car with the most carbon fiber to date."

"The standard Corvette ZR1 receives a low-wing spoiler to generate up to 70 percent more downforce than the Corvette Z06’s base aero package".

Meh, so I guess it will be just a lil faster than the z06 in the straight. Cause more downforce will kill the hp difference between them.
This is bad cause even the standart Z06 is pretty slow on high speed. I thought this would be a straigh line beast like the previous ZR1, but they made another track car... Too bad they think the parachute in the car is a good idea... I'll wait for the C8.

Sweet. I'll never own one but its been fun watching this roll out. 20-30yrs ago I would of never expected the horsepower wars to still be in full force.

Any my Z06 is still badass.

Nice/better numbers than the C&D article.

I'd like to see a front view of the engine with the hood up. What do the details of that CF "shroud" look like, the intake/filter design, etc.

Looks great. If I could change one thing with the appearance it would be the removal of all those "ZR1" badges. Looks weird on the hood and rear bumper.

Looks weird without the fender spats and side skirts! All honestly a great track car and a faster Corvette than the Z06 but I AM A 2017 Z06 VERT DRIVER FOR LIFE!! Congrats GM on the fastest GM factory stock car ever produced but I am happy coming in second place as first place records DONT LAST FOREVER! GM

Yes, 210 mph is really disappointing.

More downforce doesn't mean more drag. The ZR1 should run away from the Z06 at high speeds. The wicker bill design is much worse on drag than a wing. This is why Chevy moved away from the wicker bill spoiler on the ZL1, ZL1 1LE, and ZR1.

Yes, car is lighter and has more HP/TQ than quoted in the Car & Driver preview article.

Agreed that Chevy's marketing SUCKS. The Dodge Demon had so much hype. This had terrible build up, talking to a bunch of other car guys (including Corvette guys) they had no idea this was being revealed now. One little ~10 second video from Chevy and that's it? bah.

Anyways, looking forward to this car!

It's nt a "replacement." It's an addition. People felt the same way when they had "just" a Stingray and GM came out with the Z06. So should they never have promoted the Z06 because some Stingray owners might feel bad? What about when they finally come out with the ME? No doubt they'll claim it is the most revolutionary best Corvette ever. But wait! They should keep their mouths shut because C7 owners want to enjoy the cars they have! Personally I think the ZR1 looks great, but I'm still going to enjoy my Stingray.

Love the new orange and black look. I see a Sebring Orange 2019 Z51 convertible in my future, in exactly the color scheme pictured above.

Default The most important question

Yes, I love the looks of the car and the performance is off the charts, I'm sold and excited, but please tell me how much this is gonna cost me? Base price please!

Ideal aerodynamics for the racetrack and a good drag coefficient for long straights

"the new wings, for example, help generate more downforce without adding drag, enhancing road holding and top speed.”

North of $120K, at least initially. It will be deeply discounted when the novelty wears off, which will be relatively soon once the ME design surfaces and that hysteria really heats up.

By 2020, you'll be able to pick one up for less than $80K.

Yes, I guess he missed the part where it says:

“As the highest-performing Corvette ever, the ZR1’s design supports its capability in every way,” said Kirk Bennion, Exterior Design manager. “The new wings, for example, help generate more downforce without adding drag, enhancing road holding and top speed.”

Agree, agree, good looking from every angle. Can not believe I have read some corvette guys thought it was over done and ugly. Car is sweet, even like the orange. Better yet with 755 hp and 715 torque.
