New 17 GS 3lt price is around $66k with an $85k MSRP so I say you got a good deal. Trading in a car is usually where they get you these days.

2000-3000 ZR1s are not a big deal to GM compared to the hundreds of thousands Silverados they sell. But they make a very nice premium on the car.

Congratulations, I am truly happy for you. 
I have the go ahead from the wife, just not sure I want to spend that kind of money. I am at my upper comfort limit with the Z06, but I may not be able to resist. I look forward to pictures and comments from new owners and that might help me decide.

At this point, a dealer taking deposits for a ZR1 is questionable. Putting your name high on the list to "take deposits" seems more ethical. Then again it wouldn't surprise me for some dealers to charge a fee just to make deposits. Good luck op.

This car is going to be more limited than many of you think. My guess is that if they started at the top and gave each dealer 1 car you would still see more than half of all Chevy dealers get one. And, of course, the bigger dealers will get more than one.
Allocations should be announced after the US introduction at the LA Auto Show. We have no plans to take a deposit until we know how many we are going to get. We wouldn't take someone's money unless we were all but certain we would get them a car.

4300 Chevy dealers, so roughly 2100. Still a lot of cars. I'm not in the market for one. Only the HiPO ME, but I still won't pay a mark up of its not 1000 units or under.

* It was around 1996 and the C5 had just been released. I was tanking up my C4 at a gas station and a C5 pulled up. The owner gets out and starts telling me the C5 is a whole different car and puts the C4 to shame. I'm thinking, "gee, thanks".
* A couple months ago I was leaving a restaurant, getting into my C7 Z51 with my GF and a guy driving a C7 Z06 convertible pulls up next to me, and yells over to us, "you think your car will keep up with this (points to his Z06), not happening, it won't do it, it CAN'T do it!". I said, "thank you for your comments, good bye". My GF looks over at me and asked, why are some Corvette owners such douchebags?
