I'm shocked the ZR1 didn't include the ZL1's 10 speed..

Yes i know its a different style of transmission that just wouldn't fit in the car.. but whyyyy GM would you stick the same laggy 8 speed in there I'm sorry just ranting and not looking for a flame war.. everything else about the car is great, but man if they stuck a version of the 10 speed ZL1 transmission in this car.. game changer.
I own both and there’s definitely a difference.

Yea i read that as well, just bummed out that they didn't at least beef up the current A8 just basically did a software update.. Seems like if you're in the market for one the M7 is going to best choice this time around

I'm gLad you found my comment funny but programming with the A8 can be updated and I seriously believe with 755 hp the A8 is just fine.
For those wanting to track their cars I believe the corvette team is still suggesting the manual 7 speed is the preferred transmission.
Just my opinion and yours may vary.

Transmission tuning is a dark art. We really don't know the changes they might've done to the A8 just yet.

It very well seems to be.. I had mine tuned by Jeremy over at faster proms and even with experienced hands it just still doesn’t feel right or the same, it’s quick on its own but manual shifts are ehh

Driving a car like this with an A8 has gotta be like taking a shower with a raincoat on.

Just wondering why does it need the A10 if tunes have been made for the A8 to shift faster. Its already been said that if you are going to track your car get the M7 or use your paddles on the A8. What advantage wiuld you get out of a 755hp auto trans 10 that you cant achive with 8. The camaro has 10 but cant hang with a Z06. Please explain

"The Corvette keeps the seven-speed manual, but buyers can also choose an automatic for the first time in a ZR1 with GM’s eight-speed with paddle-shift. There was speculation the model could receive GM’s new 10-speed co-developed with Ford, but Juechter said that unit doesn’t fit the Corvette architecture and was never designed to. Instead, they updated the eight-speed to shift faster."

lol I’ll say it again it’s not about the number of gears its its the responsiveness between the two which is significant it’s as quick as a dual clutch and literally bangs through gears like a speed bike. The camaro’s only downfall is it’s weight, I love what they done with the ZR1... but we all know an automatic (done the right way) is quicker unless you’re some pro freak behind a stick.
