Not taking anything away from how cool the GT is though.
That is not entirely correct. Multimatic did not design the new GT. They do assemble the production versions though, mainly because of their experience with working with carbon fiber, which is what the GT's body panels and structure are made of.

I hope to see a new GT (in person) in my lifetime. But I'll probably see a few ZR1s. Maybe even own one. Can't really say which is faster. But the GT has a lot into it and (hopefully) costs a lot more than the ZR1. Looking forward to seeing them battle it out though!!

All I can say is that I have never lost a street race to a Ford GT yet.

Okay, I am not laughing, I do however know you are incorrect.

The Ford GT was benchmarked against the 488 and McLaren 675LT and Ford published times that showed it beating those two cars. NOT the 720S. I know the article you are referring to now. The Ford GT has not beaten a 720S on any track yet.

And it won’t beat the 720S on any track.

I stand corrected. It was, as you say, the 675LT. Not the 720, which had not yet been released. My apologies.

Saw a GT at Lime Rock’s Labor Day weekend event. White with blue stripes. Definitely a spectacular looking car. Beats most any car for looks.

Spoke with the owner who said it drives great. Keep in mind that the gas mileage is lousy, especially considering it’s a V6. That’s because they keep the they need to keep the turbos spooled up to prevent noticeable throttle lag.

Unfortunately, not worth over six times the cost of my 2016 A8 Z06.

Performance-wise, absolutely not.
Now, if we are talking about collectability...

Well..."worth" can be debated. Buying a 2005 GT now will run you about $300k for a car that was about $140k new.

But you can buy a 2006 Z06 for about $30k all day long that was $60k new.
