How the 2019 ZR1 Stacks Up Against the 2018 911 GT3
With the ZR1 and 911 GT3 poised to slug it out on various tracks around the world, we had to sit down and compare spec sheets in anticipation of the motorsport madness. See how the two measure up in this automotive pre-fight weigh in right here.

I'd take the GT3. I'm not the greatest driver in the world, and the Porsche is known for balance. The ZR1 with all of its power and wiz-bang is pretty intimidating to be honest.
For the money the C7 GS with Z07 is the hot ticket. I really think that car is the power/balance/handling sweetheart of the whole bunch.

The original title of the article seems to be incorrect. I think they meant the
Porsche GT3 RS. Furthermore, the current street price is between $250K and $300K. Reason for the price range is that porsche always has many options, and they're not cheap. Forget, the paint to sample option.
So effectively, the actual street purchase price will generally be on the order of twice the ZR1 price, when you can find one as you won't be able to order one. The Porsche is a great car, but in my opinion not twice as good.

Its not even a contest, ZR1 will go head to head with Porsche GT2 RS, a car that currently hold the Nurburgring record among street cars.... BUT the GT2 is not a cruiser and Corvette will be a better daily driver and maybe, just maybe be faster..... GT3 is 20 second behind and should concentrate on not beeing *** wupped by a Camaro :-)

The ZR1 has a lot more coolers than the ZO6, so hopefully they’ve solved that issue. You could also run E85 and not have to worry about overheating, and also gain a LOT more power too.

GT3 is a driver/purist car while the ZR1 is trying to play this dual (maybe triple) role of circuit car/roll racer/muscle car/Demon competitor. Unfortunately, the most "pure" model C7 offers is the Grand Sport....which is a shame.
Fact is though, worldwide demand appreciates Porsche for what it is, Corvette still struggles for identity and global recognition.
The best chance you have at a GT3 is to buy a Grand Sport, put some ZR1 aero on it and build the NA motor to a 550'ish hp NA. Purity, by all indications, is dead in Corvette on any substantive level. Porsche just pulls sh*t off...you have to respect them for it. GT3, GT3RS, R, GT2, GTS...just so many damn options and so many monsters in that lineup.
I've own a 993 manual C4S...liked the car, but wasn't BLOWN away by it. It was a great car though, very good driver. I have to say though, Porsche is tempting me big time. Even the ACR-E is tempting me heavily. I wanted a purist Corvette and they never built one in C7.

Why is a CorvetteForum Editor posting ZR1 news in the C8 section?

^^^ LOL......moved for you, sir!
Anyway, the Porsche was the benchmark for the ZR1. It will be VERY cool to see how well this new car will match up against the Porsche. But the Corvette will hold the edge because of it's great looks.

The ZR1 is better balanced and that votes well as to this outcome!

GT3 is down about 210 hp once you factor in the weight. How is this even a comparison? GT3 cannot even compete with the Z06. Its somewhere between GS and Z06, but much closer to GS.
GT3 is a lot more about experience and raw driving whereas ZR1 is like bringing a nuke to a fist fight.

I really, really hope that the extra cooling engineered into the ZR1 has finally and truly fixed that problem. I'm anxious to see them hit the track when the hot weather arrives next year. If they can sustain full performance throughout entire track sessions as well as the ZL1, they'll be some serious asskickers out there.
