Default First LOOK and Video's/Pics of the 2019 ZR1 in LA Tonight-Mike Furman at Criswell

~The plan all along was to fly in to LA next Tuesday the 5th and attend the LA Auto Show and meet up with dozens of my Corvette customers, some of them I have never met. Jeremy W. and John E. took it one step further and decided to attend this evening's Grand Premiere of the 2019 ZR1! So over the next few hours we will be adding Youtube video's and Pictures Live on this thread. Very first Look of the C7 ZR1 on display in the US of A.
Yes I will still be in LA next Tuesday the 5th! ~* 2019 ZR1 cpe base price is $119,995 and the Convt will be $123,995. 212 MPH is Top Speed. Spring Mountain Driving School is included with purchase.

Prior to the media being brought in, the smaller invited Corvette owner guests were treated to a pre-reveal. This is the video of that experience.

I first want to express my appreciation to Mike Furman for posting the photos and video links that I was able to get to him as the event took place. It was my goal to help fellow forum members experience the event as close to "live" as possible. Thank you, Mike, for putting those up for everyone to see as soon as they were available!

Secondly, if you are looking for what I learned about the ZR1 tonight, scroll to the bottom of this post just after the final set of photos for that information. A big THANK YOU to Harlan Charles and Kirk Bennion for taking time to answer so many questions for me!

You probably already know about our planned LA Auto Show trip on December 5. Well, it was only after planning that trip that I was fortunate enough to receive two tickets for GM's "Corvette Celebration" at the Zynderia Studios in LA. The group of guests that I joined were Corvette owners and was limited to the first 35 that responded to an email that GM sent out a couple of weeks prior. My flight from DFW put me in LA on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. EST. It's now almost 2:30 a.m. EST and I'm writing this post on my return flight.

The event was set for 7:00 p.m. I arrived around 6:15 p.m. and waited as the Corvette owner group members began to arrive. We remained outside until 7:00 p.m. and enjoyed visiting with one another and looking over the row of Corvettes on display. (Interestingly enough, the first person I met that evening was a gentleman from California that had recently ordered a new Z06 from Mike Furman and he couldn't stop talking about how great the experience was!)

At 7:00 p.m., we were allowed to enter the first sound stage room where more Corvettes were on display. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages were served as we mingled.

Shortly after we entered the building, Tadge, Harlan, Kirk, Tom, and other Corvette VIPs made their way through the room and entered a second sound stage room. We were invited to go with them at this point for a "sneak peak" pre-reveal reveal prior to media and other invited guests that would be arriving soon.

When we completed the "sneak peak," we moved back into the first sound stage room and were soon joined by members of the media and a larger group of invited guests.

It was approximately 8:00 p.m. when everyone was invited into the second sound stage room for the main event!

An electric atmosphere was set by a deejay and violinist.

And now...the moment we had all been waiting for!

As the reveal concluded, we were invited to experience the cars up close, to sit inside the cars to see how high the hood and supercharger cover really are, and to visit with members of the Corvette Team.

I took a large number of photos and will share a link to all of them once I have time to edit them. The photos I am posting at this time are some of my favorites that I took tonight. Enjoy!

NOTE: Both of these show cars were painted in the new paint shop at the Bowling Green Assembly. Look at the beautiful finish in this and the next photo!

- The ZR1 coupe and convertible do not share the exact same chassis as the Z06.

- The ZR1 suspension calibration is different from the Z06, but the ZR1 suspension shares much of the same hardware.

- The ZR1 utilizes the Z06's high pressure fuel pump, DI injectors, connecting rods, pistons, and titanium valves and shares the Z06's 10:1 compression ratio.

-The ZR1 does not share the same ECM, crank, fuel delivery system, clutch, or exhaust. The ECM is the E99 ECM. The crank is a forged crank with higher strength steel. The clutch is more robust and heavy duty. And the exhaust is completely different and sounds much more aggressive.

- The ZR1 does NOT have AFM. There is no ECO Mode and no Weather Mode. ZR1 modes include Touring, Sport, and Track (with the same Track Mode options that the other Corvette models have).

- The ZR1 is built to run on Premium Unleaded fuel.

- ZR1 wheels are spun forged wheels.

- For those asking about a painted carbon fiber option, you'll have to do this post-delivery as no as exposed carbon fiber is the only option at this time.

- The ZR1 will have one dedicated brake system. The pads and rotors are slightly different from the Z06 carbon ceramics for better track performance.

- Just at the C6 ZR1 only had two trim options, the C7 ZR1 will also only have two trim packages - 1ZR and 3ZR. The 3ZR will be priced at approximately $10,000.

- Black interior is the only available color with the 1ZR trim, while all interior colors are available with the 3ZR trim.

- There will be four ZR1 wheel finish options (Pearl Nickel, Carbon Flash Painted, Satin Graphite Painted, and Chrome).

- The Sebring Orange interior package will be exclusive to the ZR1 at a cost of $6,995, which includes Competition Seats. Some components like orange stitching will be available on all Corvette models.

- The same side mirror options across the other Corvette models will be available with the ZR1 (body color or carbon flash). A carbon fiber option is not available.

- ZR1 pricing is $119,995 for the coupe and $123,995 for the convertible. A fully optioned ZR1 will top out around $140,000.

- A ZR1 purchase will include a two day, ZR1 specific performance driving school at Spring Mountain Motorsports Resort.

- The 2019 ZR1 Order Guide will be available next week!

As much as I like the gray, the Carbon trim pieces look dirty against that paint. Maybe it's just me.

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will make its American debut this week at the LA Auto Show in both coupe and convertible form, with pricing for the coupe starting at $119,995 while the convertible Corvette ZR1 starts at $123,995.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 coupe has an MSRP starting at $119,995 while the new C7 ZR1 convertible starts at $123,995. For comparison, the 2018 Corvette Z06 coupe starts at $80,590 with the manual transmission while the Z06 convertible starts at $85,585 (all prices here include destination), meaning that the upgrades of the ZR1 package add just shy of $40k to the price. Of course, if you begin adding options to the Z06 in order to allow it to better match up with the ZR1, that price gap narrows, but the 755hp package still costs dramatically more than the 650hp package.

Kai was just about spot on when estimating a fully optioned ZR1 would be as high as $150,000

$124,000 for a vert
$10,000 for 3ZR trim
$7,000 for the Sebring Orange interior package (includes competition seats)
$3,000 for the ZTK performance package.
$2,000 or so for chrome wheels or other wheel upgrade
$1,700 for automatic transmission
$1,700 for gas guzzler tax
$1,000 for R8C delivery

That's about $150,400 and you might have options for winter tires, etc., as well as the engine build experience for $5,000. You could actually top a purchase out for more than $150,000!
