Default Hennessey has it all figured out

Love how this con artist just comes up with a make believe package and then lists a bunch of bogus performance figures. He saw the press release and VOILA...he's got a package.

Everyone should mail him checks immediately.

That is kinda funny. They don't even say 'estimated' performance figures for quarter mile and 0-60 mph. Hmm...

Has anyone successfully sued him for the scams he has pulled. I get pissed when I see his regarded highly in any auto magazine or article. He is a scum bag and a con artist.

Corvette mags should have more integrity and not accept his ads. Paul

He may not be making numbers up. Didn't you notice that his car has a 7.0L engine upgrade? He probably already has this package installed on the Z06.

Time slip accompany with a video will be sufficient. For right now those are estimated numbers.

Hennessey is in with most of the mag publishers... that's the problem.

I dislike the guy too, he should have been out of business long ago. With that said he did put this in there at the bottom of the page:
"* Estimated power ratings at the engine. Actual power will be measured at the rear wheels, before and after the upgrades are installed and tuned. Rear wheel horsepower and torque figures are approximately 15-20% lower than the factory published power figures which are measured at the crankshaft on an engine dyno."

I fully expected to take my Z06 to Hennessey for at least the HPE750 after delivery but since I decided to wait for the ZR1 it won’t see his shop. After seeing this I doubt I will ever have him upgrade a car for me.

Publishing a line of upgrades complete with 0-60 and quarter mile times for a car that has not even hit the street yet is ridiculous. Hennessey has lost A LOT of face on this one, at least with me, a serious potential customer.

Boy everyone here was quick to jump on him. Guilty until proven innocent (that is if you get a chance at a trial). The way I see it, he is building a completely new engine and states it. He also knows just about how much power he can get out of that combination. And everyone can do simulations on Drag Strip.com as to what that power level in a corvette should be able to achieve. In all, I don't see this as being so horrible as you all have described. I am sure he can and will provide a 1200HP car. I would suspect 1200HP would do better than 2.2sec 0-60. I also have never done business with the guy so not propping him up here either.

How guilty does he have to be before you are willing to call him out?

You do know he's done this before, on this very forum (circa C5 era). Made a bunch of claims, took a customer car, ran a bunch of nitrous through it and popped the motor, then the owner ended up having to get the car back from him. Without a running motor.

His Viper shenanigans are well documented.

People aren't being quick to jump on him, his track record tells the story.

Jay Leno seems to like him since he's been on Leno's show promoting his "improvements". Kinda surprising given all the negative experiences noted on a number of occasions.

Leno liking Hennessy is not surprising. Leno likes anyone who bows down and kisses his ring.

I have been following his shenanigans over the last few years on the Corvette, Viper and GTR forums. If you are a well known celebrity, very influential then you will get amazing service from him and will be very impressed by the job done to your vehicle. If you live out of the country, are not well known and from out of the state of texas you are fair game to get scammed. Its the same thing told by multiple owners of GTRs, Vipers and Corvettes. Not all of them are lying. He is the Harvey Weinstein of the aftermarket car performance world. You cant get that many accusations if you are so ethical and squeaky clean.

Any one have any experience with Late Model Racecraft (LMR)? They are also in the Houston area and I've heard good things. Maybe a more professional/legit alternative to Hennessey?

The thread was about his claim on performance for his ZR1 offering period. Go back and read your responses. The thread was not about his past that I am fully aware of. It was about his claims of 2.2sec 0-60 and other stats. You all called BS on it. I simply stated that his claims just might be accurate since he is advertising a 1200hp engine and should be able to calculate what performance parameters would be.

I never knew that being innocent until proven guilty was a PC mindset as I was just made aware of here. I did not come in here to try and convict a guy based on internet stories. Instead I wanted to point out that just maybe his package he will be offering will perform as stated or better to which all of you started crying about since the car is not in production yet. What does that have to do with anything? I am sure he has put this in a Z06 already and knows what he is going to get.
