Default Problems with 1st year ZR1

Do you think there is a significant risk in purchasing 2019 ZR1 as opposed to a 2020 or beyond? Many times the first year model of Corvettes has an issue or there is a major improvement the following year. Can anyone think of major issues or do you think the 2019 ZR1 will be front engine Corvette perfection? Thanks for your thoughts.

Too many people wanting a ride.

A Prius solves that problem!

Not really a first year car as it is very much the same as the Z06 with the exception of the engine Supercharger and front cooling changes.

Yeah I wouldn’t be too worried about the first year of ZR1 production. It’s kind of an improved souped up Z06, not any kind of a clean sheet design. 2019 will be the 5th year of Z06 production and with the exception of the A8 tranny, most of the kinks have been worked out by now.

I had an early first year '90 ZR-1, and an early first year '09 ZR1. Never had any problems with either one of them. The '09 ZR1 is a fantastic car.

I had one of the last '95 ZR-1's. Never had any problems. I have a '10 ZR1, several problems. Would I buy one again? Absolutely!

I’ve given this a lot of thought too. The first year guy always gets screwed with better features the second year. 90-91 zr1=more hp, 01-02 z06=more hp, 05-06 c6 better automatic, 09-10 zr1 got ptm, and I’ve skipped many other examples. As much as I’m interested if the past speaks to the future the 20 will have some sort of upgrade.

This questions come up every time a new Corvette is on the horizon. I had a first year C6 and currently have a first year C7. Nothing significant to report. And the C7 ZR1 won’t even be a new platform. Not sure why this question keeps coming up.

Default 2001 Motor Trend car of the year!

ZO6! Not:
  1. Loose Rings and blew oil out the back at about 1qt every 800 miles
  2. Bad brake slave seals and pedal stuck
  3. Shocks didn't work right until 2004
  4. Clutch slave seals caused stuck pedal

It has been a long time since there were real first year problems with a new Corvette model. Certainly not during the C5, C6 or C7 eras.

Go ahead and get the first year car because from what I see GM does not fix any issue too quick.
