The biggest difference would be the $20,000 discount you could get on a Z06 that will not be available on the ZR1 (for now anyways)

I doubt you’ll get $20,000 discount on new 2019 Z06 orders.

When 2020 ZR1’s are arriving you’ll get discounts on 2019 ZR1’s

Thank you, GarryZR1, for a more objective cost comparison.
The pricing difference doesn’t look so great.
Thank you,

I doubt there will be any 2019 ZR1's left to get discounts. 2000 units should sell out.

It might be one year only. Might not be any 2020's at all if it's only a one year production run.

I thought ZR1 will always come in 3ZR, you cant order 1ZR, if this is true then the difference will be even less than 16k

I second that so we are really talking like $40,000 difference!

I have only seen $20k off ZO6's on 2017's, which is a 2 yr old car when the ZR1's hit the street. So the $40k difference is not really a valid comparison. I was trying to do 2019 ZO6 to 2019 ZR1.

I love the people that are talking about getting $15-$20k off of the Z06 after it's been for 3-4 years. How did that workout for those that bought in Sept. 2014 to Sept. 2015??

So you're comparing a car that has been out for 3-4 years and saturated the market, with a brand new much more limited production model? Wait 3 years and see if you can get a ZR1 for 20% off then you'll have an apples to apples comparison. You guys just love to complain. The ZR1 will hold value better, be more exclusive and possibly be the last front engine vette ever made and compete with just about ANY car in the world for a lot less money. But apparently that's not good enough, lol.

You guys all gonna say the same thing when the NEW C8 comes out at an MSRP higher than you thought? Geez...I can get a Z06 or ZR1 for a lot less than that and it performs just as well...blah blah. That will ALWAYS BE THE CASE.

Is a GT3RS really worth $30-$40k more than a standard GT3? Is the GT2RS Weissach package really worth $31K? Standard practice...at least with the Vette you're getting 'real' performance for the extra $17k.

Do you really think GM won't build a 2020 ZR1 if all the 2019's sell? Seriously? The only way there won't be a 2020 ZR1 is if there isn't a 2020 C7.

Basically I took the ZR1 in 1ZR form, looked at the order guide, then went on line in "build your own corvette" ZO6 and added the equipment on the ZO6 to try and bring it up to a ZR1 equal as best can be done. This is not a perfect analysis, nor can it be with the avaiable information to date.

Below is the data:
2019 Corvette Coupe - ZO6 vs ZR1 MSRP
ZO6 ZR1
ZO6 Coupe $81,585 w/ shipping Base $80,590
ZR1 Coupe $119,995 w/ shipping Base $118,900
Shipping $1,095 $1,095
Options to ZO6 to bring close as possible to ZR1 Equipment
106 – NAV/w NEW UQT PDR FRONT CAMERA $1,795
Visable Carbon Fiber grouns affects $3,995
Perf Aero Kit
FAY Carbon Fiber Dash $995
ZO7 Perf Pkg, CF rotots & PS2 tires $7,995
Visable CF weave hood $1,995
Visable CF roof $1,995
Visable CF rear spoiler $2,520
Colored Brake Calipers $595
Total = $103,570 $119,995
ZR1 Added Price = $16,425

As you can see the total MSRP differential is less than $17,000.

I input the above data in a nice 2 column format, but it seems to have not come to the forum that way.

I offer this up for your consideration and discussion. Lets be polite in your comments.

So for the aproximate $17,000 you get a extra 105 factory warrantied horsepower, plus a good looking car and the other benefits you may discuss in the comments that follow.

Merry Christmas
A few corrections that I see.....We are off by $6280.....The difference is $22,705.
The Z06 base price is $79,495 + $1095 shipping=$80,590 If you add the items on the Z06 that are standard on the ZR1. It will be as follows"
Z06 1LT Coupe with shipping-$80,590 ZR1 1ZR Coupe $119.995
Carbon Ceramic Brakes- $7495
Visible Carbon Fiber full side skirts-$3995
Visible Carbon Fiber Roof panel-$1995
Visible Carbon Fiber hood -$1995
Visible Carbon Fiber rear spoiler-$2520
Gas Guzzler Tax with 7 M transmission-$0 ZR1 GGT Tax $1,300

Total Z06 1LT 7M Coupe $98,590 Total ZR1 1ZR 7M Coupe $121,295

Difference in MSRP for comparable equipped Z06 vs. ZR1= $22,705
Base price Z06 off by + $1095
NAV/PDR is not standard on the 1ZR ZR1 it is a $1795 option on both 1LT or 1ZR Or comes with 3LT or 3ZR in both models -$1795
Colored brake Calipers are a $595 option for both models -$595
Z06 comes with Red... ZR1 comes standard in Blue
FAY Carbon Dash is an option of $995 on 1LT Z06 and is standard with 3ZR not available on 1ZR-$995
Cup 2 tires are std with the Z07 pkg on Z06 and ZTK pkg. with ZR1-500
GGT tax0 on Z06 manual $1300 on ZR1 manual -$1300

Agreed. The bottom line is, you can get Z06 for so much cheaper than ZR1, and it's easily $40K, if not more due to discounts on Z06s. Unless money is no big deal for you, it won't be worth it, very simple.

Regarding 2018 vs. 2017 and depreciation arguments: with 20% or more off from the start, the cost of ownership would be best with a 2017, plain simple. Moreover, the higher base price, higher $$$ depreciation will be, since it's usually based on percentages. None of these cars are collector cars, unless you wrap it and put it away the very first day : )

For some people, the Z06 is not an acceptable alternative, and not because it's weaker, possible heat soak on track,....It's because the front end of the ZR1 just looks better, without the add-on spats.
