Default M8 picture

I see from the car and driver photos that they show a manual shifter with
"Eight Speed" on the ****. What's up?

That is not an M8 it is an A8 ( 8 speed automatic) from the new ZR1

The top picture is definitely a manual transmission.

It's not. You can tell by the wider trim on the left side of the shifter vs the right side. The read-out is darkened because the car is off, vs the other picture where the car is running (look at the AC controls to verify).

Then why is the shifter tilted to the left not in the center?

Yes. They're both the 8-speed auto. It's probably the same car, if I had to venture a guess.

Also a manual shifter **** would have the shift pattern on it. People forget from car to car which way is first or reverse, so a little picture is necessary.
