I bought my car the following week at MSRP & the dealer paid for our flight to Santa Barbara to come pick it up,
They always try. Crown was the dealer and yes, he liked to get some markup if he could but I bought a 93 Camaro Z28 off the first truck to deliver them to Ca from him at MSRP. That started a long relationship that culminated in my getting a very early build C5Z06 (Aug 2000 build) for $2k less than MSRP. All heavy Corvette selling dealers got one early allocation (pre Aug 2000 build) and he sold that for $14,000 over MSRP and a week later mine came in and I got it for $16,000 less.

In the meantime I had bought 10 cars from him and he was kind enough to kinda sponsor my race car...half price labor rates and his net on parts.

Every dealer has a few customers they have a long term business relationship with and they will get any "deals" that are cut. Calling around to dealers that don't know you and you have never bought from simply is a waste of cell phone minutes.

Also re: relationships on Employee Pricing. A distant family member wanted a Soltice right when they came out and were attracting Dealer Pack prices and had a Nephew that was an executive at Pontiac. She got the employee number and went to the local dealer and they refused to honor the Employee Pricing. An hour later the Dealer got a phone call from an Executive secretary at Pontiac asking if they ever wanted to get another Soltice delivered to them. The Dealer called my relative back and said come pick up your new red Soltice convertible at Employee Pricing.

Every business is built on relationships.

Would never even pay MSRP on any Brand New Corvette but if someone has enough money and the car is a limited production then who am I to judge. $25,000-$50,000 over MSRP what a joke for the rest of us.

GM makes GM Employee available, and then you have to find a dealer willing to sell at GMS as their franchised businesses. I've had the GM employee discount for 23+ years (used to work for them in the 90's) and bought 3-Corvettes, 2-Camaro SS', 2-WS6 T/A's, 2-Z71 p/u's, 1-4x4 Blazer, 1-Vibe, 1-SS and two Volts. For almost every purchase, I had to wait a year or more (sometimes several model years) until GM made the GMS discount eligible, and then find a dealer (one with larger allocation of the vehicle I wanted, to order) that was willing to sell at GMS pricing. For the record, GM makes the dealer mostly whole on a GMS purchase so don't let them brow beat you about not making any $$$ on employee purchases. No, they won't make as much as if they were selling the car at MSRP, but they still make a decent return.

I'll probably order a loaded 2019 Z06/Z07 (once GMS is opened up which may be fairly quickly, like it was for the 2017 & 2018 model years), and send it to Lingenfelter for some top notch engine enhancements. The only way GM will open up GMS for the ZR1 is if they aren't selling as planned, and production already has the materials schedule to build a certain number, regardless.

BTW, I'll never pay over MSRP for a new car... ever!

Not surprising...they did the same thing with the Z06.

How much is the mark up in Dubai since GM is so interested in that market and not ours.

Well, probably better to do that and at least you get an answer than like one of the big dealers who is a vendor here who never calls you back after many messages left...........

Too bad Tim isn't at Boardwalk anymore. I bought my 2015 from him brand new with the GM Employee Discount at a time when all other Bay Area dealers were charging $15k-$25k over MSRP and laughed at me when I asked if they accepted the GM Employee Discount. I'd consider a ZR1, but not at a $50k premium.

I have bought 4 of my last 5 cars out of state due to dealer mark ups in CA. I have no issues taking a nice cross country drive in my new cars. It’s turned into a cool way to get to know my cars. I actually look forward to it now. I bought my last 1LE in Chicago and my best friend flew out with me for the drive back. He ended up buying an SS in Idaho and we had the best drive of our life’s “Top Gear Style” driving back across the country in our new babies talking in talkies the entire way Home. It was a wonderful trip, and I saved 10k after expenses.

People spending is a good thing so why do you care? It's not your money.

Not sure about the one in north Salem. I wouldn't recommend them.

But my dealer who is very good at Sublimity has 1 ZR1 coming and they said it will be loaded and 10k -15k mark up!

I wish them well(?), but I doubt that price will fly in Oregon.
We aren't THAT stupid...

Email me at ajohnson@matickchevy.com if you're interested in a ZR1 at MSRP. I have 15 ZR1's with a few left up for grabs. MSRP+++
$195 is our doc fee.

It doesn’t seem difficult at all getting a ZR1 at sticker. Clearly you have dealers throwing themselves on this thread alone offering sticker deals.

Ford’s specialty vehicles is a different animal altogether. Rediculous actually. Going into the 4th model year, it’s still not easy finding a GT350 R at sticker.

NOBODY in the auto business is better at exploiting a single model than Ford with their Mustang.
Here is their latest iteration:
