Insuring a 2019 ZR1

I just talked to a ratings specialist with GEICO (my current insurance carrier) and he said GEICO will not insure a ZR1 of any year as it is labeled "High Performance".
Current ZR1 owners, who insures your car? Do you mind sharing your ballpark premiums and driving record/family situations?
C7 Z06 owners, who have you had luck with and feel charges a reasonable premium? Thanks in advance!

HTXSkydiver, when I was shopping for insurance for my 2018 Grand Sport I received some rather costly quotes from places like Barret Jackson and Hemmings. I received what I would call "yeah, that's a little more than I would have expected" from insurers like Progressive and Farmers, but the place that I found the best package was with the National Corvette Museum. The fact that I could get an agreed-upon replacement value was great, and if I remember correctly the price was approximately 50% - 66% less than the quotes I received from some of the aforementioned.
When purchasing my insurance with the NCM, I recall they had 3 prices that are based primarly (perhaps exclusively) on the number of miles driven per year. So, only you know how many miles you'll drive your vehicle per year but you should consider contacting the NCM to see what they can do for you and your insurance needs.
Note: I understand that my GS is not a ZR1 and therefore may not be classified as a "High Performance" vehicle. Perhaps the 2 vehicles are worlds apart in an insurer's eyes. Hope this info helps.

Thanks for the great plugs everyone!!
Give us a call at the National Corvette Museum. Our Agreed Value Coverage is hard to beat. We have several mileage tiers at 1,000 or less, 3,000 miles or less, or 6,000 miles or less. If you drive the car to work on occasion we have a 9-5 Endorsement for up to 2 times per week.
Our best # is 877.678.7626 and feel free to speak with anyone on my team.
Thanks!

I insure my 15 Z06 and my 13 ZR1 with Nationwide. They didn't spaz out, although I am paying a good buck for sure.

I have Grundy for my C7 with agreed upon value. Saved about $800 per year switching to them. No mileage limit either. Just has to be garaged and not a daily driver.

He sure did. I hold home owners, 2 auto policies, 2 motorcycle policies, and a boat policy with them. When asking about the ZR1 he said the model was "blacklisted" as they are a "family insurance company" and "do not insure high performance or exotic vehicles". Maybe he just didn't know what he was talking about?

I can believe this about Geico. I had my 2013 Z06 and 2014 Escalade with them and when I traded my 2013 Z06 in on my 2016 Z06 I called them and they said they had my 2013 Z06 listed as a base Corvette and now my premium was crazy because I was adding a Z06. Well of course that was bullshit because they had the VIN number and it would of shown as a 2013 Z06. Anyways I switched to Erie and my 2016 Z06 is only $635 for a year with a reduced use policy because it sets in my garage for at least 5 months a year.. I will be calling Erie on Monday to see what will happen when I drop the Z06 and add the ZR1 .

Just talked to my Erie agent. He said that they would do it but highly recommended I don't do anything because I have a ticket for going 85 in a 55 zone and my 18 year old has 2 small speeding tickets. He said they would probably drop me and I would have to go on high risk insurance. I'm making some calls but looks like it's going to be a mid engine for me after July 19th 2019 because that is when everything will be good. Oh well I guess I will have to slum it in my 16 ProCharged Z06.. Lol

Kind of hard to get an accurate insurance quote without a vin #. No problem insuring either my 2010 ZR or 2016 Z06 in Michigan all though are rates are about the highest in the Nation. Z06 is less to insure than ZR. ZR rates were skewed because fewer of them in the pool, so if 1/5 in Michigan has a claim, it comes up as a 20 percent risk. Where with all the Zs out there the risk factor is much lower.

I had a '17 Grand Sport prior to my '18 Z06. State Farm wanted to raise my premium by almost $500 for 6 months for going with the Z06. I switched both my cars to Geico with the same coverage I had with State Farm. My premium was reduced to about $200 less for the 6 month period with the Z06 vs.the GS I had with SF.

Yes, NCM (National Corvette Museum) insurance quoted me $1,900.00 annual to insure a 2019 ZR1 AND my 2002 Z06 (with stated value of 25K). This was for full coverage and $500.00 deductible. Not Bad. I'm probably going to go with them.
