Do people actually believe buying then not driving a Vette makes it go up it value?

I just saw this listing for a 2009 zr1 with 22 miles on it for sale. I have to wonder why on earth did the owner not enjoy his beautiful ride. I just paid $77k for a brand new 2lz zo6 auto so I’m wondering who will pay that much for a 9 year old car? What could the prior owner possible be thinking by not driving and enjoying his beautiful ride for the last 9 years? Thoughts?

I don't know, but I think it's great that if someone wants a ZR1 with less than a 100 miles on it, it's available.

Someone who buys that 2009 ZR1 will probably not drive it either and just keep it in their own collection. If they start driving it its value will tank VERY FAST!

A quick look at the selling dealers website left me with the impression that all of the listed cars are somewhat optimistically priced. I guess they can ask whatever they like ...
I am the second owner of my first Corvette, and from what I have found, I think I may be the second owner of any future Corvettes too. The 2013 60th I purchased was driven more often than the ZR1 here, but it still didn't do 100 miles a month. And while I was shopping, I found cars that were even older, with fewer miles. (Just not quite as appealing to me as what I bought.)
If someone wants to spend that kind of money for a Corvette, eat the depreciation, and hand it over to me in near flawless condition with warranty remaining ... what's not to like?
"Thank you SIR!! May I have another?"

Dealers are NOT a good indicator of true car values.
Since its introduction, I've seen new Z06s listed by dealers up to $130k on Autotrader.
If they don't ask, they don't get (Capitalism 101).

I believe that the person who worked hard and made enough money to buy that car, should be able to do what they want to with it. If it makes them happy to look at it the garage; so be it. Now people who have an opinion on what someone else should do with their car, that’s confusing to me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to drive my cars. Quite frankly, I couldn’t care less what someone else does with theirs.

People live in a fantasy world thinking that any late model Corvette (even the "special editions" that GM pumps out) will be worth anything more than what they paid for it in their lifetime.
Look at the C4 ZR-1, how much was it brand new and then think about what a pristine zero mile example would go for....definitely not more than what it was bought for brand new.
There are few current vehicles that have actually appreciated in the last 30 years, GNX, Z8, GT, 911R, 993 turbo, F Ferraris, Mk IV Supras, last gen RX7 and a handful of others, it may seem like a lot but consider all the cars produced in the last 30 years and it's merely a drop in the bucket.

Last year, somebody auctioned off a 1962 VW Beetle at one of the Barrett-Jackson auctions that only had 24 miles on it ...

The Mustang Crowd believe the same about their "special editions," etc.

I don't know what they are now, but they got above $500k at one point.
Completely insane how much it appreciated, needless to say that's Supply & Demand for ya.

Well, the C6 is the best looking corvette so far, according to many people. Add the LS9 and a manual transmission, and it’s even better. This particular car is in perfect condition, and that’s important to people looking for a used car. And then there’s the rarity of it. I’ve seen 2 ZR1s in my lifetime, and both were in Daytona. You don’t see them often, and that makes it more special than something like a C7 Z06 which I see once a week. Some people just prefer C6 Vettes. And any collector out there would love to purchase this for that price. I bet this car will cross an auction block on live TV at some point in its lifetime.

You forgot the current GT350/GT350R. They appreciated in value before they left the lot!

It's a nine year-old new car. Regardless of the price and its past history, it is an awesome car. I'm thinkin' someone will be very happy with that car. Would I pay 85k for it? No. Would I like to have it? Hell yeah!

The dealers have this little book that usually gives them a guide to how much they will allow/sell a car for. ANY CAR. If there are a lot of a certain Corvette models mileage might help. Just look at the past Corvette models that are worth a lot of money. Keith Martin's SPORT CAR MARKET has information on the latest auctions and info on every car sold at the auctions. Check it out if you want to see how much some Corvettes go for. Takes a long time for a CORVETTE to appreciate

My thoughts? 22 miles or 100,022 miles is inconsequential to me. If someone wants to buy a car and park it in their living room for 9 yrs., who cares? Well... I guess some on here, but most don’t. I agree that there are better investment opportunities than cars, but what people do with their money is their business.
