Man that wing is huge

That rear wing is ridiculous, dont care about downforce. What maybe 1% of these will see a track. They should of made it removable if possible.

Yup, that wing is big... and looks tacked on. It’s obviously functional, but if it was integrated better, or the brackets looked different... or better yet, if it was equipped w/active aerodynamics, i.e., Porsche, then that would be great, but certainly costly. IMO, the car looks great regardless, but would probably go with the shorter wing if I decide to get one.

This is the best top down pic I could find but see how the front edge is curved to just clear the hatch when open? The profile of the wing changes along its beam to match the different airflow over the hatch and the rear of the wing looks to be shaped to the airflow off the back of the car. Then there are those huge endplates that stick forward quite a bit- presumably to help direct more air to the actual wing since that won't interfere with hatch operation.
While I don't particularly like the shape stylistically think it's clear that was a highly engineered item and not something just slapped on.

I suspect there was a ton of engineering that went in to designing that wing. Most wings on race cars are heavily restricted by series rules in both shape and size. In this case they needed a wing that was functional but would also clear the rear hatch. This isn't some Pep Boys ironing board bolted to the back of the car.

I doubt that GM would slap-on something that wasn’t highly engineered... especially on a $120+K car, but it’s still looks tacked-on and doesn’t flow with the overall lines of the car IMO. As mentioned, the car looks great nonetheless, but I would probably elect the smaller wing if I decided to get one.
The wing’s purpose was never disputed, and the Pep-Boys’ ironing board reference was witty, however, cliche and certainly not how I described its appearance.

I think most need to see one for real before placing judgment on the wing. I hated it when I first saw the pics and video, and loved it when I saw the cars for real on the road. Don’t know why but it’s a big difference and it all somehow looks right.

No need to “suspect.” It’s obvious that a ton of engineering went into the design and functionality of the taller wing... not to mention that it’s actually anchored to the frame to support the downward force.

That's the main reason I didn't buy the Camaro ZL1 1LE. The wing would make me feel silly. Not that I could afford the new ZR1, but the wing is a little over the top for me...............................but Id take the power :-)
Till then, My C6 ZR1 will have to work, or you can wait 7 years, and the new C7 will be half the purchase price with under 4000 miles on it.
