How much will the ZR1 value drop when the C8 comes out
Love the looks of the ZR1 and it looks like the issues with the Z06 have been addressed. However, I’m concerned the ZR1 is going to drop like a rock when the C8 comes out. C8 will probably have DCT, far quicker tranny.

Like most cars it will drop like a rock as soon as you drive it off the lot.
There will always be something newer, faster and better.
Pick what you like and enjoy it because it will never make you any money.

It will drop, but how much all depends on what engine the C8 has in it.

Then you'll likely be unhappy if you purchase one with that eating away at you. And thank you for increasing my chances of ownership by one more unit available.

I think MSRP is very reasonable. Compared to other cars in this performance class it’s an outright steal. But C7s drop so hard, hard to understand why.

I don't expect the ZR1 will be mightily affected by the ME.
The Z will be the last Corvette FE model (probably).
There are guys who absolutely refuse to consider a mid-engine Vette.
For them, the ZR1 will be the ultimate get.
When the ME hits it will likely be as a base model.
The fire-breathing model will drop when the ZR1 goes out of production.
YMMV.

And, in the larger scheme of things, you should never buy a new car as an "investment" or even as a solid monetary asset. They are for driving and enjoying, forget the money and their value.

well like all cars the value will drop the minute is off the lot and you may see another slight drop when the C8 body comes out but I do believe that the resale value on the ZR1 will take a Huge jump a year or two after te C* is out and will be of value even after that. my only reasoning to this is that the Z51 besides being a iconic high powered special edition beast for corvette it will also be the last year and the final farewell to a C7 body corvette engine placement. I hope i dont offend anyone but i do believe that the Z51 and Z06 corvette buyers are a slightly different breed from the standard stingray buyer.
well one can hope the value stays up.

It all depends on what price the C8 demands. There have been several introductions where the new generation was priced significantly higher and it actually increased the value of the past generation. If the C8 comes out at $65k and the C8Z is $100k it will hurt the C7 values. If it comes out with the base $90k and the C8Z $130k it could actually help C7 values.
Only time will tell.

I don't think there is any way the C8, any version, will be priced BELOW the C7, not gonna happen.

Interesting point. I originally thought that the C7 ZR1 would be the swan song for the front-mid engine. But thinking it further, just maybe Chevy is taking a play out of the Porsche play book, only flipped over. Porsche has the rear engine 911 as its prime model and the Cayman mid engine as its lower brethren. Each have their various performance levels and separate price points. So it could be possible that Chevy will keep the C7 front-mid engine along with the new C8 mid-engine just like Porsche's Cayman is to the 911.

Trying to catch bigger and better will never be caught. The C7 is getting long in the tooth. The ZR1 will certainly drop, but not as bad as the Stingray, GS, and Z06. Just look at the C6 history for a general value gauge...

No way will GM allow the price of a Corvette to jump that much in one generation.
even a base ME "whatever" is going to be well beyond the current base price of a Stingray. IMHO.

Which Porsche are you comparing to what Vette?
