Bragging rights come at a cost. I’d rather have a #2 ZR1 (or whatever #) and $800K to spend on other toys, summer home, vacations, etc., but that’s just me. I guess if you got it ($), why not...

I wish someday I could bragg about donating $800K to disabled vets, L.O.D deaths of military, cops and fireman. God bless the generosity of those who choose to help others instead of buying themselves another toy, summer home or vacation but thats just me.

Why not donate the whole $925K instead of getting a ZR1, or any Vette for that matter? You could drive a Chevy Spark for $13K, or just take the bus. Every penny counts. Don’t be greedy.
And when I do make donations, I certainly don’t brag about it, but that’s just me.
Edit: I forgot the flags

It was a coupe, but they said that it would be built however the buyer wanted it. Coupe, convertible, auto or manual. He could have it any way at all. And where was Hendricks? He's usually the guy to ****** all the number 1 Vettes up. Pissed me off that the veteran's charity only got $950,000 and that Pratt car got $2.5 million. Don't forget that the charities only get half of what they sell for too, unless they arrange with BJ to get more. But they even said that the autism car would only get half, and Ron Pratt donated another $50K to the charity.
I'm with the rest of you guys. Buy a ZR1 off the line, and spend the other $800K on other goodies. But I won't ever have to worry about it because I don't travel in those $$$ circles.

That car is #001, and thats the car you're bidding on. Can't exactly bid on that car and then say, oh but I want a convertible. Then you're no longer bidding on the rarity of #001.

Buyer of the ZR-1, which was Rick Hendrick, can have it built however he wants - the $925k is just to purchase vin #1, in the world of GM, he paid $925k for the $5 pick your vin # option and he still has to buy the car.
Most of us on here wouldn't spend $925k for vin #1, but most of us don't have Hendrick's money or Corvette collection.

More power to him.
I wouldn't pay that kind of $$$ if I had a $100m, but that's just me...YMMV.

Said from someone with a garage full of toys (your sideways avatar).

The car at the show was one of the pre-production cars.

I wouldn't pay .5c for one of those. One of the biggest "misses" that Corvette has come up with in their "add on goodies" game yet. Putty color? Not for me. But then again, it's just me, and someone will think it's beautiful and buy it. And obviously, someone did. More power to him.

If George Washington signed it I think it would double the price and should be worth at least 2.8 million.
