I believe the cars are awesome but personally 150,000 for a new corvette seems a little over the top. I might have to wait until the mid engine is released. ALL OF YOU GUYS WHO GET THE CARS I WILL BE ENVIOUS.

Seriously NO. Make note of any STEALERships doing that and never pay them any further attention.
The car is going to depreciate the second you drive off, I don't need to pay $$$ to impress the Cars and Coffee Crowd with the me first mentality.

Geez we go through this for every year, every new model, every new special edition, every new generation etc. People were paying 10000 over and more to be the first to get a C6 Z06 when they came out with the rational that “well I’ll be driving mine while your waiting for yours”.
It’s stupidity at best, and it was then as it is now. Even more so now as we supposedly live and learn from others mistakes. I really don’t care how much money someone has, there is still and never was any intelligent rational for this.

Contact Maxie Price Chevrolet. They have such a wonderful track record of dealing with special Corvette models. C6 Z06, C6 ZR1

Frankie you are correct. Everyone was justifying why they paid over sticker in 2006 for the first Z06's only to see prices cave shortly thereafter.

Scraping the splitter.
The ZR1 will be the same as most other Corvettes. Those who don't want to shop around might get dinged for an ADM by their dealer. Those who do shop around will buy at MSRP early in the cycle. Gradually, demand will likely drop and discounts will be offered.
So you buy now and pay full MSRP and enjoy the car for maybe 1-2 years before discounts, or you wait it out, save some money, and buy one 2 years from now. Either way, you get a ZR1.

^^^There are always exceptions, as in your dad's case. When you're sick, things like money tend to matter a whole lot less. I'm betting your dad enjoyed his ZR1 to the fullest extent and the last thing he cared about was paying a mark up. Good for him.

I paid MSRP for my new 14 Stingray and my new 15 Z06. I was happy to pay it and get the car and drive it.
I do not feel the same about the 19 ZR1, especially after I bought a nearly new 13 ZR1 for half price.
I will live vicariously thru the first adopters.

This post is funny to me cause ADM is why I'm in a vette, Ford Dealers wanted stupid amounts over sticker for GT350 and I wouldn't pay it. I don't get why anyone would pay it for any car.

MSRP is plenty enough to pay under normal circumstances for a "special" car. I have done that on an early ZR1 but others were much less. If I stick and get the 2019 I have a deposit on it will be at sticker not over.

Im not getting 1 (at least right now), but if I was and I decided to pay more than MSRP, I would have no problem admitting to it. While I've never paid over MSRP for any car, and wouldn't expect many ppl to admit to it, everybody has different reasons and a different story. Theres more than just one way to look at this. This is not a "one size fits all" scenario. In reality, the only person that can decide that its throwing $ away by paying more than MSRP, is that person. There are many ppl out there (including financial experts) that say buying a car like this, is throwing away $ in the 1st place.

My father purchased an early '09 ZR1 and paid a mark-up. He had been battling lung cancer and was in remission at the time. He wanted to get one while he could enjoy it. He had it for a year before he started treatments again. He wasn't even able to make it to the driving school (Dec '09) because of his treatments had started up again. If he had waited a year to get it at msrp or better he may never had the opportunity to own one. While for most cases I agree that paying a mark-up is foolish, there sometimes is intelligent rational for paying the mark-up.
