So, who predicts that the ZR1 will have a "secret" function no other C7 has?

Got Boost?!
Some of you guys on here are funny as hell. It's like you drive the forum with angry faces looking for some negativity to spew. Active aero, in basic form is as simple as actuators and servos...it's not reinventing the car.
And yes, I can use Huracan in the same example, because I think it's pretty clear GM has hit above the belt because it has found ways to do things that manufacturers at the next level are doing, in a more budgeted and basic form.
It's strange how posing a question inspires no theoretical ideology, but instead an outpour of negativity and naysaying.
Let's quickly return to the wax/polish/xpel threads and photoshop renders of C8...have a good day.

Interesting idea, and thanks for posting. I wonder that even if GM doesn't use any active aero or have any tricks up their sleeve, perhaps an aftermarket tuner will?
I also wonder if GM might shy away from promoting any active aero due to liability issues. You could imagine how someone who causes a injury accident in their ZR1 might try to blame it on a malfunction with their active aero.

GM has patents for some very creative active aero...I guess the grand forum of armchair enthusiasts knew that already.
That said, the ZR1 has two cameras in the grill...PDR maybe has some advanced features

First of all the GT2 RS has what! *****!
The little Lambo basically static with a little trick for the lesser powered car!
The 918 and P1 LM ran static. *****!
The ZR1's got What over the other Vettes? *****!
The new GT3 RS? Static! Sub7! *****!

I think active aero is too slow in general for the track!

I'm really not sure why the attitude but in any case, the Z06 has two cameras up from too - they're for the front parking camera.

This post is funny to me. IMO the ZR1 is everything the Z06 tries to be and really should have been. GM finally fulfilled the potential of the C7 platform.
If the ZR1 is just a Z06 then the Z06 is just a Stingray right? All they did was add a little power and some aero pieces? Lets see you meet one on the track or line up next to one at a stop light in your Z06. Might change your mind

What advanced features do you think PDR will have?

Every new model that comes out it's the same old thing and repeat........ Of course I expect the next model to be superior or what would be the point See ya in a few, I need to research some Wax etc

FWIW, I do expect some type of "active aero" on the C8.
Maybe not on the base car, but certainly with the higher performance models.
A mid-engine car is an easy platform for moving air around a car to increase DF and lower drag.
BRING ON THE C8!

It can't get here soon enough, BUT we know they have to push the ZR 1st, then wait through the Base Model MEs. When the C7 came out I was all about getting one until a inside source at GM told me to wait as I would definitely want what was coming.

I sound negative...lol...no, the Corvette forum sounds negative...lol.
As for the patent, this was well documented. I'd theorize that despite the FR drawing, this is like the MR car that would receive these fitments, but...it is possible this could sneak its way into the ZR1, as the MR car is also in pre-production mode.

Good find!
Unfortunately or fortunately..as per many previous GM "defensive" patents this may also never see the light of day due to costs and return on idea (juice worth the squeeze..) as well..
I do think (as per year past) we can expect some evolutionary refinements for the entire C7 platform till EoL. Mero's Chassis tuning refinement/upgrade comes to mind as an example..

Active aero generally is too close to the cars boundary layer, and too slow, to really be of much help. It is generally a pretty car trick! Give me a 720s with a wing and I'd be real! Their F1 same - same!
Bigger truck torque on tap to drag bigger static homely aero denotes a ZR1 in good position, as is!
Heck, The GT2 RS, currently The most successful gimmicked up sports car in the world has static aero!
