The ZR1's time should be a piece of cake! It might need that 830 HP, huh!?

It can be a real PIA refueling so much. I forget too after the sessions and then miss going out on the track with my group having to fuel up first.

I ran out of fuel in the boot at the Glen a few years back. It was the most embarrassing day there! Getting towed through the pits was the pits.

I don't think i will buy a new ZR1 considering how bad the mileage will be.

If you want a gasoline powered 755hp car, guess what...it burns a lot of gas.
Drop the power numbers or get a hybrid.
I'm sure there are NSXs available somewhere...

Default When they aren't Drifting along the streets!? ;)

Their GT3's are certainly saving gas, relatively!
(And the 720s with the wing I was looking for!
https://www.roadandtrack.com/motorsp...aren-720s-gt3/)

But, they don't have it all, Either, of course!

I had it - They can't run The Ring (drifting)!
https://arstechnica.com/cars/2017/08...-gt3-race-car/

The ZR1, Lamborghini, and Porsche can!

And

The 720s, and 488, GT3 are at least relatively more efficient on fuel than the ZR1!

It is a very fast car, but in addition to that when you have forced induction, you have to retard the timing, lower the compression, and richen the fuel mixture which cost you significant efficiency. On top of that it's the supercharger probably needs 50-90 horsepower to run that thing.
And it's a somewhat heavy car with all of that additional plumbing. It's going to use some fuel.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but with the new 2019 ZR1 there will be a gas guzzlers tax for both the automatic and manual transmissions, not just the automatics as in the past...

Autos get, and keep, the RPM's up more. I'm guessing that tendency keeps AFM disingaged more, which, doesn't matter here anyway because it isn't on the ZR1 anyway.

Some guys get it done on here!

Default Good Question! ;)

There lies a real dilemma if that better time happens though.
They likely very well know the answer now, and they could just clearly disseminate it, but, its track times, and word of mouth, in general most importantly by others will serve to do that--perhaps better!

Bingo!?
But with the available big-brained performance traction management system keeping all that power pointed in the right direction, you’ll have good fun trying.

Groundbreaking!?
The usual supercar sacrifices don’t apply here. Turning a stock sports car into something truly ready for the track typically starts with cutting out creature comforts in the name of reducing weight.

M1?

M1 is a great idea and give them a lot of credit for putting it together and pulling it off.

That being said I wouldn't compare that track to any other pretty much anywhere else in size, technicality, design, etc.

It was fit into a space that they had and that was about the only design criteria it seems.

There is a reason that there is not a single image of the track lay out on their website.

Yes, M1. That track is really growing on me. I've spent a lot of time there. It's tight but I do like it. I was able to get 1 second from the lap record for street tires.

NoOne and Jason, have you run Gingerman and Grattan? If so how does M1 compare? I have not run M1.

I have not run Gingerman but ran at Grattan for years.

I don't want to make it sound like I'm crapping on M1 because they did something that is pretty impossible to do in this day and age, build a track in the middle of a city. It is small, short, and not what I would call exciting.

However they worked with what they had and took advantage of a short window in time to do what they did. If the RE market didn't suck so bad when the came up with the idea I doubt it would have flown.

They have a very prosperous business it seems and the programs they run there are great for first timers but the track itself is pretty simple. They run a ton of OEM programs there and if you've never been on track or been in a performance car to have that type of access in a suburban area is great. It reminds me of a big Kart track.

It doesn't look like it would be hard on parts either.

I do kick myself every once in a while when I think to how much each car condo went for back then, I think they opened at 135k? They might even have gotten as low as 90k. They cost a bit more today.

My office is about a mile south at Square Lake and I drive by it a lot of mornings if I skip the freeway due to traffic.

I love Grattan, it has everything and is a very fun track to drive at. Outside of the big name tracks I don't think there is a better place to go in Michigan.

I've run Gingerman before. It's been a long time though. It was with my C6 Z06 very early on. They are about equal but I like M1 better because I feel so comfortable there. Gingerman has more runoff though. M1 has very little runoff which is always on the back of my mind and keeping me from pushing it too hard.

I've never been to Grattan.

We are talking HPDEs here, aren't we? Why is it so important to finish the whole session?

Cant fight brake specific fuel consumption and lambda...if you make 755hp, you need a given amount of fuel to match.

Maybe they stuffed a little bigger fuel capacity in the ZR1...even an extra gallon and a half would likely do it.

You could pretty easily calculate the fuel consumption differential given you know the sae hp numbers. Forced induction BSFC is a fairly known value, as is the typical lambda value for forced induction with a margin. You're likely right on the guesstimate though...if you go through it in 37-40, probably looking at 31-35 on the ZR1 depending on the track.

Can't have it all unless you bring hybrid in the mix.

Guys that follow your posts? Should know you have the deadly turbo car with the dead turbo's from 20 years past. So yes you should be able to write the book on inadequate rides . Putting those owners on track> I could see you going the GT2 RS MATCH BOX!
