Some people do not favor green cars but should they be denied the ability to pay for one if there are those willing to pay for them? Today, if someone doesn't like something it seems the knee jerk is: "get rid of it", "ban" or censor it. In America, not the EU, it's about individual choice. Not about what someone else thinks a person should have. Heck, the entire automotive aftermarket grew from having choices beyond what others thought should be available. Next, there will be calls to legislate chrome wheels and other "bad taste" items from existence. Even Chevrolet recognizes your "bad taste" choices and charges you $590 for the override.

Can you create a pop-up like this that appears before you ever get access to the forum section?

Car looks great.

And by the way, everyone's expressing extreme displeasure about the big wing WILL NOT CHANGE ANYONE ELSE'S MIND......some of you act like if you bitch and moan enough about the "ugly big wing", others will think like you....it's not going to happen. In fact, it puts a negative taste in people's mouths....all the negativity is a huge turnoff.

Exactly why chromes are becoming less available. Can't have them in areas where they salt the snowy roads, as you say, they pit & corrode because of high maintenance requirements. The chrome wheel finish warranty does not include chemical damage to the finish. Chevy put three sets of chrome wheels on my Avalanche under warranty. They were cheap Chinese supplied, PVD chrome, not hexavalent chrome (copper, nickel, chrome plating), discolored and pitted from the factory. Corvette ended European supplied chrome wheels, probably due to environmental prohibitions on the triple plate chrome process. Chevrolet/Corvette subsidized and contracted a newly built chrome wheel supplier right in Bowling Green but they are the most expensive wheels to produce. Hence supply/ availability and profit margin problems arise.

What's going to happen when we walk into the showrooms and no V-8, no combustion engines are available? What Kw size electric motors do you want? Nobody wants pushrod V8's or any combustion engines anymore. Converting Corvettes already (for $750K). I respect other's choices but the American market will always respond to consumer desires whatever the cost.

I agree. Cussing and insulting other's choices is inappropriate. It happens too often on many threads in this forum. That being said, the wheel finish discussions should be moved to the "wheel" thread. When the word "Chromes" appeared in the ZR1's heading the haters attacked. Inappropriate posts should be deleted and free flowing Corvette discussions should continue including respectful debating.

I'm not a fan of chrome wheels anymore and I'm old, but to each their own. Still a nice looking car. Call me crazy, but I like the look of the ZR1 without the wing and ground effects. It would be a great street sleeper and catch quite a few off guard because they think it's a base model.

Otherwise congrats. Looks sweet! Wheel design is fantastic though!

Of course you would at 58.

This car is not made for you. Graphite wheels and the lower wing for street. This with the high wing will be an absolute killer track rat in the right hands. What the CAR was built for.

If you have the right eyes. You will see exotica in the front nose.

Yeah this looks like a 300K supercar taking a corner. That's what I see.
Love those chrome wheels. I'm old school and blacked out wheels are waaayyyy over done. Just not into that "thug" look.

Everyone,

Deb has requested no comments about the wheels nor your preference and/or opinion. Let's honor her request!

Is the spoiler in the back the same as the z51 spoiler? From the pics it almost looks better without the wing and the front splitter.

And the very title of the thread is "Torch Red with Chromes ZR lands in Michigan" that alone is going to invite discussion about the wheels. Some of you mods are overly defensive for no reason at all. I get it's a thanksless job but at the same time no one is forcing you to do it. Just like some of the posters need to chill out, so do some of the mods... go ahead and flame me know....

Why do you always have to be so negative. We try to keep the CF more positive and have useful comments. If you don't like chrome then keep your opinion to yourself. Your dislike of chrome is not any more valid then the ones who love them.
