Default Carbon Wing Damaged

Has anyone had any issues with carbon wing being damaged?

I went to pick up my ZR1 on Friday March 23rd and as i arrived at the dealer i was met by the salesman telling me there was a problem with the wing and they were working on getting it replaced so as i walked over to the car and looked the wing looked like it was shipped without a box, Scratched and even dents in the wing broken piece on the end was missing a chunk. Long story short my car is still at the dealer i get a phone call yesterday telling me to go ahead and come get the car they are going to replace the wing (When They Can Get One) GM said there is no replacement parts at this time and they don't know when they will be available, So i explained to the dealer the car is not going to be moved and i will not except delivery of $140,000 car until the wing is Replaced. Way To Go GM!!

There's no need for a massive rear wing attached when you're just bumbling along at no more than highway speeds.

Go get your car. Drive the snot out of it and get it broken in. By the time you're ready for your 500 mile paid-for oil change, perhaps the big wing will be in. Get your oil changed and your wing attached.

This is not an "end of the world" problem. Annoying: yes. But it's easy to deal with.

Wow, really surprised and sorry to hear that. I would assume these are shipped in boxes with the car, but it does make me think how a truck load of ZR1's has room to store the additional boxes, unless they're shipped inside the car. I wonder how that works.

They are no longer shipping the Carbon inside of the cars they are shipped separate to Prevent Damage LMAO!! So as of yesterday evening they are not sure what they can do to correct the problem, And i wont pick the car up until GM replaces the wing.

Default Your car just did 190 MPH without it! ;)

Unless you're planning on seriously breaking the law (in a brand new car) you are fine.

See if they've got a small wing loaner (if applicable)!

Not planing on breaking the law!! Just not even thinking about picking up a $140,000 car with a busted wing and GM reply was we don't know when replacement parts will be available. There are no loaner wings out there.

All C7 ground effects, wings, spoilers, etc. have been shipped separate from the car since launch. Sounds like it was either damaged during shipping or by the dealer.

You're early though! Fiber parts are special, and they have been a problem before.
That's okay, you'll appreciate it more when it comes together!

This is not the first report of ZR damage I've heard this week The General needs to step up and GET YOU A REPLACEMENT ASAP. The next car in line can wait. Hold your ground

Well that's just the problem: this is a replacement part (that was damaged) and those wings are in incredibly short supply. As in: non-existent.

They wouldn't likely not miss even the expensive small wing! No opportunity there.

Dealer calls and asks YOU what YOU want to do? Ridiculous! I guess we shouldn't be surprised by that question though. OP, hope they get you a wing ASAP. Stay on them about it. Good luck!

Just remove it for now. Or drive it with some damage.

Will the factory management every correct these quality problems that are never corrected. There is a problem with the workers who check these cars before they leave the factory for delivery. What is going on?

i already thought about doing either, But there is no guarantee as to when they will have a new wing. It would have to be run without the wing as one corner is broke on the original wing!! And with no guarantee as to a time frame Not on a $140,000 car!!

Let's ease up on the hyperbole here. It's not helping anything. More than likely, this was a problem in the shipping of the parts, not something done at the factory.

That is correct it was damaged in shipping and not a factory defect, According to the dealer the box was damaged pretty bad when it arrived at the dealer. Just does not make it easier the dealer is telling me they have no idea when a replacement part will even be available But come pick up your $140,000 car and we will call you When it arrives..

Here is what I would do honestly. If the car is perfect besides the wing I would take it out of that dealership as fast as possible before other damage to your ZR1 happens. Store it in at your house where no other damage will happen. I honestly would then not drive it till the wing is available to put on your car. Then I would nonstop be calling GM or whoever almost every day along with the dealer until the wing arrives! I don't think you will get the wing any faster if it is at the dealer or your house but WHATEVER YOU DO REFUSE THE BROKEN WING AND LEAVE IT AT THE DEALER AS IS! Good Luck and hopefully you will get your wing soon. At least you will have the car home safe and sound even if you don't drive it till the wing comes in.
