SS717 did it. 570S vs ZR1 to 180+ MPH.

So can the ZR1 A8 or the M7 really reach 212 MPH TOP SPEED or is this just GM advertising to sell the car?

To be fair.. that was the worse way to compare those cars lol also the zr1 needs a driver mod because he’s not even reaching redline.. also, the A8 will be superior in the straights.

I look at Mike’s video all the time but this upload sucked a$$! He is very cautious of having others drive his car, which is understandable but this is the clickbait crap others have been talking about. That’s a poor way to display the performance of the ZR1. They both have different use.

Let Mikey do it..
He’ll figure out for all ZR1 future owners if there are any vulnerable mechanical issues. He does things to his cars many won’t do. I’m hoping he continues doing it on closed courses.

Exactly why I like watching his videos he’ll do the upgrades I’ll consider doing, dynos the car then mentions if it’s worth it or not lol so he’s essentially my corvette guinea pig 😂 along with that cleatus guy on YouTube and if their cars blow up I’m good

Some track time.
It would be nice if 717 did a comparo against the McLaren on a track somewhere. Can I suggest Road America?

I saw the same "why isn't it faster?" complaints in the half mile thread.
Aero matters, and it has an impact. The ZR1 isn't the "straight line king", its king of the track.
This is good news. It means there is real aero there, even in the low fat version, and its working.

The 570S is going to be faster even when the C7 ZR1 is broken in, especially if the ZR1 is a manual. The 570S has essentially zero downforce or drag compared to the C7 Corvette (Any C7). It's stupid light, I think they're less than 3100. And they sand bag the power numbers, 515 RWHP is well over 562 HP. But it's more than that, the McLaren's have boost by gear, so they may dyno at 515 RWHP in 4th, but the car may be putting down 550+ in 6th. Plus, as noted by Mike, it's smaller and overall just better for top speed.
The C7 ZR1 will SLAUGHTER the car on the track, there's no question there. And it would also likely slaughter the 570S from 0-120 MPH. But after that, those damn McLaren's, all of them, are just lightning quick, they just don't slow down. The 720S walks away from 1000+ HP Vettes after 150 MPH. They walk away from everything on the big end. Now you could argue; does that really matter? Probably not to most and for 99% of the time. So I'll seed that the C7 ZR1 is a faster car than a 570S/12C in most circumstances. But the McLaren's are nasty in straight-line speed, there's no question about that. The 570S runs mid 10s, the 12C runs mid-low 10s, and the 720S runs 9s, and I'm sure the 650S falls somewhere in between.
And yes, Mike was granny shifting and was well below red line each shift. Although even with an A8 I think the McLaren would be a few seconds faster in every dimension. You pay $200k+ for a super car these days and it's not going to be beat by just anything.

Nope. There's really nothing touching the McLarens on the top end right now.
Just like he said, the Corvette are better from 50 to about 110-120, after that, there's no competition. The McLarens(both the 570 and 720) have the power, gearing, and aero to run away from most cars these days. The 720S is punching in the hypercar class speed wise.
At the track, of course, it'll be a different story. This video is accurate.

Not much is touching a McLaren on the highway especially. Come to think of it, I don't think there's any factory stock car that will run with any factory stock 570S or especially 720S on the highway. I know the 488 GTB runs really strong like the 570S/650S up over 130 but no where near a 720S.
(Obviously that excludes the hyper cars such as 918, LaFerrari, the Koenigseggs, Hennessy GT, etc.)

Yup those 720’s are so unrated and king of the straights in my opinion I’ve seen so many head to heads where it just destroys anything in its path with less power. It’s just built that well.

Yep. Like I said, I've seen a 720S (stock obviously) come around a 1000+ HP Procharged C6 at 150 MPH like it was standing still.

Like I keep saying, the C7 is pretty draggy and really isn't geared for super quick 100mph to whatever runs. It's a bruiser. Can't wait wait for the road course times.
The ME should fix this "problem" though.
